Position Summary As the Head of R&D Program, North America, you will be the on the ground R&D business partner to the North America marketing, sales and Supply Chain teams across their portfolio of brands. You will need to lead the delivery of the renovation, innovation and savings roadmaps, in partnership with the broader business, to bring sustained and exceptional growth to the North American business. Reporting directly to the Chief R&D Officer, you will be key to developing and driving the growth direction of Elida Beauty, whilst ensuring continued business improvement through a product lens - whether improved consumer experience to drive growth, reduced costs to improve margin or faster, risk-based execution to respond to new customer and consumer needs. You will represent R&D within the extended North America Leadership Team, and support the CRDO in partnering with the North American Senior Leadership Team. You will be working incredibly closely with the small, tight-knit, entrepreneurial Elida Beauty cross-functional team - and as such your opportunity to drive business thinking and direction will be both large and critical to success. You will be given the opportunity to rapidly develop new skills and knowledge that will go far beyond that of any typical R&D functional expert. Role Accountabilities R&D business partner to the North America extended leadership team Member of R&D leadership team shaping overall R&D strategy and approaches to support both Global and North American business Ensuring OTIF delivery of savings and growth plans across the core business, with special focus on Q-Tips, Ponds and Caress R&D Lead with North America marketing team across brand portfolio to define and support brand growth roadmaps Support Packaging Director to define packaging strategy to support both North America and global Elida Beauty portfolio, and Formulation and Compliance director to define formulation strategy required to support business growth agenda Development and execution of claims strategies to support business objectives Ensure all developments meet safety, regulatory and quality needs and expectations Ensure relevant and meaningful communication of product benefits to internal and external partners through development of appropriate stories and claims Minimum Requirements 10+ years experience in technical roles specializing in packaging development, product formulation and/or research in the consumer package goods industry A minimum of 5 years demonstrable track record of delivering product innovations and savings improvements/optimizations to the North American market Experience within US and Canada markets is preferable Experience of developing and launching packaging-based innovations to market - including an understanding of key packaging technologies and considerations for primary and secondary delivery Minimum 5 years experience of packaging development Experience within paper or cotton products is a plus Understanding of Beauty and Personal Care product formulation - ideally experience of developing new products Experience with claims creation and development is a plus Experience working directly with Senior Leadership teams to help shape and direct strategy, including effective stakeholder management Track record of working within a cross-functional R&D and Supply Chain team An understanding of business financials, P&L and how to understand and challenge project business cases Experience of delivering through external partners for product development, with knowledge of IP considerations Ability to execute with an 80:20 mindset, managing expectation and addressing ensuing issues with maximum agility Scientific degree in a relevant field, or alternative transferable technical qualification Engaging orator, able to discuss and share ideas with people of varying technical backgrounds We are looking for someone to lead the Elida Beauty brands into an exciting new space - challenging the status quo and acting as a true Business Partner to bring improved products to the market, improving the lives of consumers, customers and the broader world.
