The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City. Under the general supervision of the Weatherization Program Director, the Outreach Specialist is responsible for conducting program outreach-promotion to ensure that all eligible households in HANAC's Weatherization Assistance Program service area have access to available services. The Outreach Specialist ensures that program information is readily available at all local human service agencies. They reach out to community organizations, organize events, conduct presentations, distribute materials, and advertise informational content to educate low-income families about the benefits of the Weatherization Assistance Program. This outreach may include neighborhoods or areas beyond the program location. Outreach efforts must be conducted throughout the entire contract year and aim to provide information regarding the nature and existence of the program, eligibility requirements, the application process, accessing the program, and effectively populating the program production pipeline. Work Location: Astoria, Queens Work Schedule: Monday through Friday (25 hours per week) Pay rate: $27 per hour **Bilingual Preferred. Major Functions/Accountabilities: Conduct program outreach and community related activities to increase referral base and community education. Provide outside presentations to network and further develop referral sources. Promote linkages with other service providers that will help applicants obtain and maintain accessibility to community services. Participates/conducts meetings, and presentations. Maintain logs of outreach activities. Completes monthly reports as required. Cultivates, develops and maintains productive relationships with referral agencies. Attends planning team meetings, case conferences, and outside events as assigned by supervisor. Search service area for potential low-income eligible buildings. Provides program support and maintains thorough understanding of the federal and state policies and procedures that govern the weatherization program. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required. At least three years working experience in the human services and social sciences fields or related area. Solid computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good presentation skills. Good interpersonal skill set, able to work independently and still function as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of screening and interview techniques and business etiquette. Requirements: Tasks may be modified, expanded, or reassigned over time. Perform other related duties as required by management. Solid knowledge of community resources and services and their accessibility. Proven ability to identify and assess service areas within low-income communities. Assist in creating program flyers and marketing materials and prepare and distribute program information packages. Must be available to work at night when necessary. #J-18808-Ljbffr
