Work type: Regular Full-Time Location: Glassboro, New Jersey Categories: Professional Position Title: Social Media Content Strategist Location: Rowan University, Division of Marketing and Communications Reports To: Associate Director of Social Media Position Overview: The Social Media Content Strategist plays a key role in executing Rowan University's social media strategy by creating and delivering engaging content that strengthens the university's online presence. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and producing content across platforms, while supporting influencers such as university leadership, the mascot, student influencers, alumni and more. Key Responsibilities: Content Execution and Management: Assist in the execution of the social media strategy, ensuring all content aligns with Rowan University's brand guidelines and goals. Develop, plan, and maintain content calendars to ensure timely, consistent, and relevant posts across all social media platforms. Collaborate with the Social Media Specialist and other team members to integrate influencer-generated content into broader campaigns and ensure messaging consistency. Content Creation: Assist in producing high-quality, engaging content for Rowan University-related social media platforms. Work closely with internal influencers, including university leadership, executives, and student influencers, to create content that highlights their voices while aligning with the university's goals. Support live social media coverage of events, capturing real-time moments and posting to engage audiences. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track the performance of social media content, gathering insights on engagement and reach to inform future decisions. Provide regular reports to the Associate Director of Social Media on content performance and suggest adjustments to enhance results. Collaboration and Trend Awareness: Stay up to date with social media trends, platform updates, and emerging tools to ensure Rowan University remains innovative and competitive. Work with the marketing team to align social media efforts with Rowan's overarching marketing strategy. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field. 2-4 years of experience in social media content creation, digital marketing, or related fields. Strong proficiency in content creation tools, including graphic design software, video editing tools, and social media management platforms. Experience with Sprout Social, or similar Social Media Management platforms is a plus. Proven ability to produce creative, engaging content for various social media platforms. Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to plan and schedule content effectively while managing multiple priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and an understanding of different audience needs. Experience in tracking and analyzing content performance to improve engagement and reach. Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with influencers and cross-departmental teams. Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in video and photo editing using mobile apps such as CapCut, Canva, or similar tools. Experience with basic photography and videography, using both smartphones and cameras to capture high-quality visuals. Experience creating content in Higher Education.
