PROGRAM DESIGN: RTS facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences, and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Deputy Director - Education and Career Pathways is responsible for providing leadership in the design, development, and implementation of extended learning, community school, college and career readiness, and youth internship programs. This includes program oversight, staff development, partnership cultivation, event management, program evaluation, and advocacy efforts. ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE: Supervisor: Chief Program Officer Supervises: Program Managers, Master Education Specialist, Community School Director, College Access & Pathways Programs Coordinator Hours: Fulltime, Monday - Friday Compensation: $85,000 - $90,000 RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum Development: Lead the design of comprehensive curricula for arts, sports, STEM, leadership, civic engagement, college and career readiness, and academic support programs, ensuring alignment with educational standards and the organization's goals. Regularly reassess curricula based on feedback, program evaluation data, and trends in youth development. Program Oversight: Manage youth workforce development, college access, community school, and internship programs. Monitor program quality and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with the organization's objectives. Utilize data to make improvements and informed decisions. Staff Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor a team of Program Managers, Master Education Specialist, Community School Director, and College Access & Pathways Programs Coordinator. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and open communication. Conduct regular evaluations to ensure high-quality performance. Partnership Cultivation: Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, community organizations, employers, and more. Collaborate to create experiential learning opportunities, internships, and mentorship programs. Event Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and post-event evaluation of all organization-wide events, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission. Professional Development: Lead the creation and implementation of staff development programs focused on curriculum implementation and youth development best practices. Program Evaluation: Implement evaluation systems to assess program impact and effectiveness. Generate reports highlighting program outcomes and areas for improvement. Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization in relevant forums, highlighting the importance of youth development and workforce initiatives. Engage with policymakers, funders, and stakeholders to garner support. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Program Officer. QUALIFICATIONS: Educational & Professional Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Minimum of 7 years in youth development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven experience in curriculum development and program evaluation. Familiarity with DYCD, DOE, OCFS, and OCS standards. Knowledge & Skills: Track record in designing, executing, and evaluating K-12 youth programs. Strong understanding of youth development principles and best practices. Experience in budgetary management and oversight. Knowledge of culturally responsive practices and curriculum design. Competency in data analysis for strategy and decision-making. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with program management software. Previous experience in a non-profit setting. Familiarity with project-based learning and social-emotional learning methodologies. Personal Qualities & Abilities: Exceptional leadership and managerial skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks. Physical Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel to different program locations. Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
