The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure seeks a Deputy Director for the Specification team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing contracts and addendums; developing standard construction language; maintaining and updating standard specifications for roadways, sewers, water mains, and green infrastructure construction; maintaining and updating standard drawings; supervising and reviewing the work of a team of engineers; providing timely resolution of problems that may arise during construction of projects; and ensuring completion of projects on time, within budget, and within allowable IFA rates. Additionally, the Deputy Director will represent the Division and the Specification team at meetings with the Division of Law, the Division of the Agency Chief Contracting Officer (ACCO), utility companies, and other City, State, and Federal agencies; and will assist the Director with fulfilling the team's mission as needed. A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer. 2. Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity. Preferred Skills Preference will be given to applicants with robust supervision experience and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicants should be detail orientated, with the ability to manage projects and complete multiple multi-trade projects on schedule, and with knowledge of specifications methods, operations, design, and construction of the City's infrastructure system. Experience with PASSPort procurement system and possession of the Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential is advantageous. 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
