How you can make a bigger difference: PURPOSE: The Fair Futures and SILP director has direct oversight of the Fair Futures team at Kaplan House (Manhattan), Cedar Knolls House (Bronx), and SILP (Supervised Independent Living Program, Bronx). Kaplan House and Cedar Knolls House provide therapeutic and support services to adolescents aged 16-21 who are referred to us through ACS and the Juvenile Justice system. Our residents have experienced significant trauma, resulting in behavioral, emotional, and functional/developmental issues. Both Programs offer an extensive independent living skills program, including vocational preparation and educational services that assist youth towards reaching independence. The Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP) provides a transitional living environment for older youth who are ready to move towards independent living but could benefit from a supported environment to build the skills required to live independently. The SILP provides resources for youth aged 18 to 21 who are experiencing challenges as they transition to adulthood. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of The Fair Futures program at the Group Residence and oversight of the SILP. Under the direction of the Senior Director of the Children Residential Programs and support services, the director will be responsible for the overall coordination, administration, management, and leadership of services and programming provided within the residential programs. In addition, s/he must provide safe, high-quality programs and adherence to The Jewish Board policies and procedures. In collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment team members, the Director must ensure the integrity of treatment planning processes and maintenance of the highest documentation standards as required by regulations and professional scopes of practice. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Leadership: Establish annual goals for the program. Create and encourage opportunities for staff development and professional growth. Ensure programmatic compliance with auditing standards and agency policies. Represent the programs at external stakeholder meetings. Have overall clinical and administrative responsibility for the program staff, including staff supervision, training, and development. Ensure that necessary programmatic systems are in place to meet all client safety needs, both on and off grounds. Ensure that the site meets appropriate safety and aesthetic standards. Ensure appropriate direct clinical supervision is provided to all clinical staff members. Ensure appropriate psychiatric, assessment, therapeutic, and independent living disciplines are available and administered to the residents. Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with community representatives and groups to enhance linkages for the client population. Oversee key administrative staff of the program and ensure appropriate completion/compliance of such work. Participate in the recruitment processes of essential staff and have the ultimate responsibility for candidate selection. Ensure that all internal/external regulatory requirements are met. Manage fiscal and human resource operations related to the program. Develop and adhere to the department budget. Adhere to the philosophy, values, and practices of the Sanctuary model in guiding day-to-day interactions with residents and staff, with significant focus on family engagement. Management: Hire and provide clinical and administrative supervision to the Clinical Director, Senior Team Leader, and Programming Manager at both programs. Oversee budgetary management of the program, ensuring it meets the budgeted census. Manage risk regarding client safety by adhering to all risk management protocols. CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include: Ability to write policy, procedures, and protocols. Ability to assess program needs, increase efficiencies, and build teams. Ability to develop and execute strategic plans with staff members to enhance programming. Empathy for youth and families, and a passion for including youth and family voice in child welfare programming operations. Capacity to lead and supervise an array of child/adolescent focused services within a milieu treatment setting. Expand and develop youth-guided family-driven care. Embody Sanctuary principles & values and ensure integration of said principles throughout the program. Support and strengthen interdisciplinary practice. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Skilled in using data to inform & guide practice. Value and demonstrate cultural competency. Value professional development and participation in supervision and training. EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED: LCSW, LMSW, or a Master's degree in a Behavioral Health or related field. A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in either child welfare, juvenile justice, mental health, or other residential treatment settings, three (3) of which must have been in a senior managerial/operations level capacity. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE: Valid Driver's License preferred. Spanish speaking a plus. COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of electronic Health record systems or CONNECTIONS preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Word. Aptitude for learning new systems and application software; experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software. VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXTERITY: The candidate should be able to read paper and electronic documents and perform significant data entry into various computer programs.
