Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director will provide the leadership needed to effectively manage and grow the Behavioral Health Service Line by ensuring clinical excellence, operating efficiency, and financial strength. This will include direct oversight of all Outpatient Behavioral Health services, including oversight of School-Based Health Centers. The Director will work collaboratively with medical leadership to integrate behavioral health and medical services. This role will also be the liaison for all federal, state, and local mental health departments and will stay abreast of changes occurring at those levels by attending regular meetings and building relationships with and establishing contacts within these external agencies. Essential Functions & Responsibilities : Develops implementation strategies that maximize potential for throughput improvement of Behavioral Health patients across the out-patient sites and schools. Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates all department staff; actively develops existing staff. Identifies quality and clinical performance variations and opportunities providing oversight to subsequent plans and drives execution of strategies for improvement. Coordinates and integrates data and analyses for opportunities to improve performance, quality of care, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes. Drives improvement in volume and financial measures for key measurement areas within the Behavioral Health Service Line. Possesses strategic vision, excellent communication skills, proven motivational capabilities, executive presence, and a demonstrated track record of delivering results and attaining goals. Works collaboratively with the Quality Department and interprets clinical analytics to provide meaningful reports and analysis to inform executive leadership and other stakeholders as needed. Reviews, analyzes, maintains, communicates, revises, and improves the policies related to behavioral health services. Develops and monitors policies and procedures to meet compliance (State and Federal) for accreditation requirements. Conducts monthly behavioral health peer review to ensure that clinicians are meeting clinical documentation standards and compliance with regulatory bodies i.e. DCF. Represents the service to external stakeholders including other state agencies, provider groups and professional boards, demonstrating efficient knowledge of programs and services offered. Serves on the Quality Improvement and Risk Management Committees. Maintains and models CHWC core values. Performs other duties as required. Additional General Requirements : Travel across site locations is required (Torrington, Winsted, North Canaan) Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners Job Qualifications/Requirements : Knowledge necessary to provide leadership within the organization Ability to read, interpret, and implement regulatory standards and ensure staff is knowledgeable Skills to communicate effectively with professionals verbally and in writing Ability to make sound fiscal decisions and participate in development of department budgets. Ability to effectively review financials and make informed decisions. Education : Master's degree in a related field (Social work, Nursing, Psychology, etc.) required Experience : At least 3 years of direct behavioral health staff management experience including evaluations, mentoring, performance improvement planning, and professional development required along with proven successful. Language Skills : Must speak, write and read English proficiently. Spanish preferred but not required. Licensure/Certification Required : Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or APRN required Teleworking : This position requires teleworking if requested.
