Senior Foundations Relations Manager (GP) Posted on March 03, 2020 Greenpeace U.S. is seeking a Senior Foundations Relations Manager to oversee and further develop the organization's foundation relations program, with primary responsibility for cultivating fruitful, long-term relationships with private foundations to secure significant support for Greenpeace's U.S. and global campaigns. This management position supervises the daily operations of foundation relations function, and oversees a portfolio of approximately 75 principal-level prospects and donors. The successful candidate will be capable of mastering and articulating in compelling writing complex programmatic work to funders, and have prior experience working with private foundations to secure six- and seven-figure grants. The Senior Foundations Relations Manager will develop and lead strategy for strengthening partnerships with private foundations and securing grants, and will be an active participant in the development department's management team. The position will report directly to the Development Director of Greenpeace Fund, and will work closely with the Executive Director, program staff and Board members. This role will : Personally manage engagement with a portfolio of up to 75 active and prospective private foundations, including phone/video conversations, in-person visits, and written communications. Provide guidance on expanding the universe of foundations that fund Greenpeace, preparing briefings for program staff and senior leadership on emerging giving trends and positioning Greenpeace to match the giving priorities of foundations. Directly manage a three-person team, including a Senior Foundations Relations Officer, a Senior International Foundations Relations Officer, and a Grant Specialist. Develop strong working relationships with leadership and program staff to advance fundraising and programmatic goals. Collaborate with the Development Director to determine annual income budget goals from foundations. Oversee the Foundations program budget, including tracking income and preparing financial reports for senior leadership. Develop and maintain tracking systems for international fundraising efforts. Assist the Grant Specialist in developing tracking systems to ensure foundations are regularly updated on Greenpeace's activities. Facilitate the process for developing letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and budgets. Provide guidance on presenting financial data to private foundations and improving systems for tracking restricted revenue. Assist senior management in facilitating program planning and mentoring junior development staff. Ensure all information about cultivation activities and donations is entered into the CRM database (Salesforce). Perform other job-related duties as requested or assigned. Minimum requirements include: At least seven years of proven success in foundations fundraising for advocacy-related issues. Three years in a management position. In-depth knowledge of the terminology used by foundations. Experience in soliciting and obtaining six- and seven-figure grants. Familiarity with accounting and financial reporting. Additional requirements include: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and project management skills. Creative, flexible, and able to balance a variety of activities. Ability to set priorities and travel extensively. Commitment to the environmental and peace issues central to Greenpeace's mission.
