HARPER INTERNATIONAL POSITION DESCRIPTION Harper International uses the position description as a tool to communicate and clarify the essential job functions, establish the basis for performance expectations, and identify training needs for each position. Part I - Reporting Structure Date of last revision: August 2024 Department: Sales & Marketing Job Title: Vice President of Sales & Marketing Status: Exempt Completed By: HR Reports To: CEO Part II - Position Objective The VP of Sales and Marketing has functional responsibility in the sales and marketing group, while also participating as an officer of the company. As an officer, this position has fiduciary and broad responsibility for the entire business. The VP will be a member of the four person Officer Team, a group charged with running the Company at the highest level. On the Sales side, the VP will drive business growth by developing and utilizing a multi-faceted sales approach: analyzing markets to guide sales and marketing functions, developing strategies for the application of new and innovative technologies, and focusing on building and maintaining customer relationships through direct sales. Part III - Job Responsibilities Participate as a member of the Officer Team: setting strategy, leading and influencing in all areas of the business. Develop broad sales strategies for market-based approaches. Develop and maintain deep industry, market and technology understanding (through relationships, research, trade shows, etc.) Oversee the sales team and processes from lead generation to negotiation and closing. Develops "capabilities-based" sales strategies for individual accounts, mentor sales team to achieve. Grow, develop and lead the sales team. Identifies priorities for product development by considering the competitive landscape and incorporating the voice of the customer. Develop strategies for, and utilize, a network of international, commissions-based sales representatives. Creates and maintains a department budget, forecast, and other reports. Provides direction and support to the marketing function including social media, campaigns, trade shows, collateral and PR. Position requires 25% travel (both domestic & international). Part IV - Knowledge, Skills, Education Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent technical experience) and MBA (preferred). 10+ years of demonstrated, progressive direct sales experience, including international. 5+ years working in sales supervision, sales strategy, product placement, etc. Experience with consultative selling of complex capital equipment. Experience with complex sales where the buyer is forming a budget, has multiple technologies to consider. Individual compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other position related components.
