Location: Long Grove, Illinois (just outside Chicago) Type: Part-Time, Hourly (April - November) Reports to: Director of Jewish Life About Us: The Institute of Soil and Soul is a regenerative farm and education center dedicated to combating food insecurity in Chicago by growing and donating fresh produce to local food pantries. As a 501(c)(3) charity and Jewish education center, we strive to deepen connections to the planet and promote Jewish values through sustainable farming practices. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds to explore their relationships with agriculture, community, and identity in an inclusive environment. Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Jewish Educator to join our team. This role is essential in supporting our educational mission by developing meaningful programs that integrate Jewish traditions with regenerative agriculture. The ideal candidate will possess a background in teaching, Jewish textual study, and education, as well as a strong commitment to fostering a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for all participants. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the development and deepening of educational curriculum that connects Jewish values with sustainable farming practices. Supervise and lead educational events and activities for diverse audiences. Preserve Jewish heritage and traditions through hands-on learning experiences. Assess students in authentic ways to gauge understanding and growth. Collaborate with the Director of Jewish Life to create community events centered around Jewish agricultural cycles and holidays. Partner with other organizations to enhance educational offerings and community impact. Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants. Engage with participants to help deepen their understanding of Jewish traditions and their connection to the land. Qualifications: Experience in Jewish education, community programming, or a related field. Background in teaching, experiential education, and Jewish textual study. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for regenerative agriculture and food justice. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals. Familiarity with Jewish traditions, agricultural cycles, and holidays is a plus. Why Join Us?
