The Safety Director is responsible for ensuring that the highest level of safety and security standards are maintained at all times to protect the residents, employees, and visitors, as well as the assets of our community. They interact with various departments ensuring general safety practices are being adhered to. Extensive resident and employee interaction is also required, as it pertains to routine issues as well as sensitive situations. The Safety Director has direct oversight of the Safety Department which is responsible for emergency response, Life Safety, OSHA and workplace training, disaster preparedness, and investigations (e.g. theft, workplace injury, etc.) for both Residential Living and our Health Center. Check below to see if you have what is needed for this opportunity, and if so, make an application asap. Responsibilities: Coordinates the daily operations of the Safety Department. Maintains records of all Community Incident Reports, Daily Officer Logs, workplace injuries, workplace violence, and general liability. Coordinates with the Human Resources Department in addressing and managing Workers' Compensation claims and investigations. Responsible for mitigating risk by actively conducting risk assessments. Reviews, processes and approves payroll for the Safety Department on a biweekly basis. Prepares and maintains the labor and operational budgets for the Safety Department. Serves as a community liaison with local law enforcement agencies, fire departments and other governmental agencies. First responder to all emergencies on property; including resident and staff medical emergencies, fire and large-scale incidents. Responsible for the daily monitoring and maintenance of the resident pendent alert system, resident door monitoring, smoke, fire and sprinkler systems, camera system and access control system. Provides ongoing life safety training program to employees across the community; including CPR, First Aid, AED and other classes as needed. Selects, trains, evaluates, and coaches Safety Department staff. Maintains appropriate staffing levels. Responsible for testing of all Fire Alarm and Sprinkler system on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA rules, regulations, and training for staff. Provides ongoing education to residents covering a variety of topics. Actively participates on the Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Quality Improvement / Assurance and other community committees. Responsible for parking systems management for both residents and staff. Responsible for 24-hour Community patrols to monitor security and safety of community. Responsible for supporting Health Center specific safety initiatives, systems, and compliance on an ongoing basis. Qualifications: Five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. At least two years management experience supervising others required. EMT or Paramedic certified; or a RN or LVN licensed by the state of California. Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Experience in a long-term care facility, hospital or other health care setting. Disaster preparedness experience is highly desirable. Certification as CPR/AED and First Aid instructor or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
