Head of Programs - Football The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role. As the Head of Program for Football, you will lead and manage the football program at all levels, including middle school, JV, and varsity. This position requires a strong background in football coaching, leadership skills, and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Supervisor : Director of Athletics Supervisory Responsibilities : Assistant Varsity Football Coaches, JV Football Coaching Staff, Middle School Football Coaching Staff Position Status : Salaried, exempt, full-time, 12-month position Hours of Work : TBD based on position. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend and evening work is required. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Current active or currently pursuing employment as a Westminster Faculty or Staff Member Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred Demonstrated success as a coach Working knowledge of computer and statistical programs Strong writing, organizational, administrative, and communication skills Ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, and community members Knowledge of GHSA rules and regulations CPR and First Aid Certified - preferred ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Program Development and Management Develop and implement a comprehensive football program for all tiers (Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) that aligns with the school's mission and values. Provide leadership and guidance to coaches at all program levels to ensure a cohesive coaching staff and program alignment. Plan and conduct effective practices focusing on skill development, strategy, and teamwork for all tiers. Evaluate and select players for each team through tryouts and ongoing assessments, considering the needs of each tier. Create a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth. Foster strong relationships with student-athletes, parents, and the school community across all tiers. Build and manage the scheduling of games, practices, tournaments, and other team events for each program tier. Organize and oversee youth clinics, summer camps, and summer development programs to build and develop the program's pipeline of talent and engagement. Work closely with the Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning and the Assistant Coordinator of Sports Performance to ensure that football student-athletes are physically fit and conditioned for the sport of football. Engage lower and middle school students and families to promote the sport and provide opportunities for younger students to engage with the sport and the program. Engage and contribute to local youth football organizations to build a network of coaches and promote Westminster football. Manage the program within the parameters of an approved budget. Perform other duties as assigned. Compliance with GHSA Rules and Regulations Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations set forth by the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) for all aspects of the football program. Stay current with any changes or updates to GHSA rules and regulations and communicate them to the coaching staff, student-athletes, and parents. Maintain accurate records and documentation required by the GHSA, including player eligibility, game schedules, and team rosters. Coordinate with the athletic department to ensure timely completion and submission of necessary paperwork and forms. Attend GHSA meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay informed and maintain compliance. Educate student-athletes, coaches, and parents about GHSA rules and regulations emphasizing fair play, sportsmanship, and ethical conduct. Support for Student-Athletes Guide and support student-athletes pursuing football at the collegiate or professional level, including the recruitment process, eligibility, and academic requirements. Collaborate with college coaches, scouts, and youth programs to facilitate exposure opportunities. Provide resources for skill development, training, and camps to help athletes showcase their abilities. Maintain relationships with coaches and recruiters to advocate for student-athletes and connect them with opportunities. Work with the Sports and Performance Counselor to support student-athletes' well-being and ensure a positive program culture. Monitor academic progress and stay informed on NCAA and NAIA recruitment and eligibility regulations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Westminster is a drug-free, smoke/vape-free campus. TRAVEL Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel will be required and is associated mainly with planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
