Job Description: The Dean of Schools is responsible for overseeing compliance with educational laws and policies, including state and federal regulations, while managing special projects such as summer school programs and sports activities. This role also supports emergency preparedness by assisting with emergency drills, ensuring safety protocols are effectively implemented, and managing incident reports. The Dean fosters positive relationships with educational staff, administrators, and the school community to create a compliant, high-performing educational environment. Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following: Ensure compliance with Education Code, district policies, and federal/state regulations. Oversee the management and resolution of incident reports to ensure safety and accountability. Coordinate and manage special projects related to the summer school program, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with academic goals. Support the organization and implementation of the school's sports program, aligning activities with the broader educational mission. Act as a liaison between administrative and instructional staff to drive academic progress, safety initiatives, and student well-being. Train and coach staff on best practices for compliance, safety protocols, and program management. Collaborate with the instructional leadership team to ensure continuous improvement in educational programming and student outcomes. Lead professional development activities related to compliance, educational best practices, and school operations. Assist in the planning and execution of emergency drills, ensuring that staff and students are prepared for potential safety incidents. Perform other administrative functions and duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Previous experience as a school administrator, preferably with compliance and program management focus. Teaching experience and an active teaching credential. Familiarity with independent study programs and ability to oversee non-traditional educational programs. Experience in organizing summer school programs or extracurricular activities, such as sports and Title IX. Knowledge of educational programs and instructional methodologies. Experience with incident management, safety protocols, and emergency preparedness in a school environment. Education and Experience: Admin credential required. Hybrid Position: Remote - 80% In Person - 20% Location: This position will support OFY-Duarte and three additional charters. Salary Range: $115,000 - $140,000 About Us OFY is a free non-profit public charter school serving students grades 7-12 who have fallen behind in school, are looking to get ahead and graduate early, or merely desire a non-traditional learning environment. OFY's founders, John and Joan Hall, started the program in 1987 to provide at-risk and underserved students an alternative to traditional learning methods. OFY's blended learning model allows students, teachers, and families the freedom to design an individualized learning plan for each student based on his or her strengths, weaknesses, college and career goals, and schedule outside of school.
