Duties And Responsibilities: Reporting directly to manufacturing floor supervision and management, the Mechanic/Line Maintainer responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:Run and maintain automated press equipment, ensuring all aspects of the operation are funning effectivelyRun quality checks on product in line with customer requirementsRemove any jams as they occur and report irregularities to the management team. Restore the equipment, check for quality and resume production as soon as possible after any shutdownMaintain production tally, load and production tickets on assigned lines as requiredSort any defective product as requiredRelieve other plant employees as neededUtilize check sheets and graphs to track causes for production problems, statistical process control requirements and spoilage concernsCommunicates all pertinent information between departments, peers and between shifts on changes to equipment, production schedules, production problems or any other related information.Works with employees on identifying, discussing solutions and implementing "fixes" on machinery and equipment problemsApplies knowledge of various processes and production methods to improve plant productionOversees quality and recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within the equipment limitsPerforms other job-related duties as required or assigned :: In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following: Minimum Requirements:High School Education/GED or equivalentFive to seven year(s) experience in a manufacturing environmentProven competency in the use of micrometers, calipers and related equipmentThe employee must have the ability to travel early on for training at other manufacturing locations Preferred Requirements:Vocation or technical certification or a journeyman's card or licenseHigh-speed packaging industry experienceKnowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing Competencies:Strong problem solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approachThe ability to be able to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics and parts specificationsAbility to work independently or with a teamMust be able to look at new solutions and "think creatively and strategically" to solve problemsEffective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate peopleExcellent time management and project management skills as well as the ability to multi-taskExcellent oral and written communication skillsProven math and computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.) Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlThe associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on occasionSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focusThe employee must be able to work up to twelve (12) hours shifts, both day and eveningEmployees will be required to have their own tools Working Conditions:The majority of work will be in a plant environment but maybe required to move around to different parts of the manufacturing floorWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic in the plantThe associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperaturesThe noise level is frequently loudReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
