Structural Engineer/Bridge Inspection Team Leader

DescriptionDo not wait to apply after reading this description a high application volume is expected for this opportunity.McCormick Taylor is seeking a Structural Engineer/Bridge Inspection Team Leader with a minimum of 5 years of bridge design experience to join our Exton, PA office. The primary duties of the Structural Engineer are to perform bridge safety inspections, structural analysis and prepare design calculations for various transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO LRFD and PennDOT specifications and standards. Other DOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission experience is an advantage but not required. Qualified candidates should have a diversified knowledge of bridge safety inspection, engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to bridge design; geotechnical/foundation design, substructure design, superstructure design, and retaining and noise walls.ResponsibilitiesPerform bridge/culvert safety inspections in accordance with PennDOT and Federal StandardsPerforming complex structural planning analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projectsPerform detailed structural calculations in support of design and rehabilitation for bridges, culverts, and retaining wallsDevelop structural drawings, construction details and geometry layoutsPrepare quantities and engineering cost estimatesProvide internal quality control to ensure technical accuracy, conformance to project requirements, and overall constructabilityProvide construction assistance and respond to Requests for Information (RFI's) as necessaryMentor junior staff and coordinate structural work with our project disciplinesWork will be hybrid in-office/work from home environment, with some field work and travel requiredRequirementsMinimum 5 years of structural engineering experience on transportation projectsB.S. in Civil EngineeringProfessional Engineer (P.E.) Licensure preferred, F.E. requiredPennDOT Certified Bridge Safety Inspector required, NHI certification beneficialProficient with PennDOT BMS2, iforms and NBIS inspection requirementsExperience in all aspects of bridge design and bridge rehabilitationExperience in bridge load ratingExperience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software including a thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and PennDOT design and construction specifications/standards.Proficient with MicroStation or AutoCADOpenRoads and OpenBridge experience beneficialPossess strong oral and written communication skillMust be able to independently manage project tasksPossess a valid driver's licenseWe value your interest in our organization!
