Employees needing reasonable accommodation should discuss the request with the employee's supervisor or Human Resources.Essential FunctionsThe following duties are essential for this position.However, they are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.Other duties may also be required or assigned.Analyze, troubleshoot, install, repair, and modify the plumbing systems and prints per the Wisconsin Uniform Plumbing Code for all City buildings, parks, shelters, bathrooms, pool facilities, fountains, and irrigation systems.Winterize all City plumbing in the fall and reassemble and charge the same systems in the spring.Repair of circulating pumps for brine, heating, and pool pumps.Perform varied maintenance tasks related to the overall operation of the City's aquatic facilities.General building and grounds maintenance and repair; mechanical systems troubleshooting and repair; electrical and heating system troubleshooting and repair; plumbing system maintenance and repair including the piping for both pool water and potable water.Responsible for maintaining code compliant water quality at all aquatic facilities, including the maintenance and repair of associated equipment, as well as the use of various required chemicals.Respond to emergency calls after normal business hours that are a result of mechanical/plumbing failure or other issues at any of the City buildings, pools, parks, boat launches, bathrooms, or whenever a citizen has an issue with a City service.Perform daily routine maintenance on equipment. Maintain up-to-date records of all maintenance activities.Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adhere to all safety regulations; ensure all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.Report all accidents to the appropriate authority.Follow all policies for reporting.Assist other City departments as needed, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and construction aspects for all City buildings or facilities.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of:Practices and methods used in the maintenance of buildings, parks, and equipment operations.Materials, methods, equipment and current practices associated with plumbing work and repair.Trade tools, equipment, materials, and techniques used in maintenance.Care and use of equipment and tools utilized in the performance of department functions.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) purpose, use, and maintenance.Safety precautions and potential hazards encountered in maintenance activities.Occupational hazards (OSHA) and safe work practices.Skill in:The repair of machines and systems using the needed tools.Determination of causes of operating errors and solving operational problems.Operating and maintaining all assigned vehicles or equipment.Hazardous Materials identification and emergency response protocols, Federal and State regulations.Operating and maintaining all assigned vehicles or equipment.Self-starting and being motivated with the ability to work independently.Being trustworthy and honest; taking accountability when appropriate.Applying problem solving, logic and reasoning to determine solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Ability to:Operate an aerial lift truck, scissor lift, and forklift.Interpret and work from sketches, drawings and specifications.Handle multiple tasks at once and take on a diverse range of tasks.Be highly dependable with a history of consistent attendance and punctuality.Work as a member of a team.Comprehend policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; construction plans and specifications, SDS sheets, safety manuals, technical manuals, schematics, maps, etc.Maintain accurate records of assigned activities.Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time.Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, temperatures, job sites, uneven terrain, noise, dust, etc.Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with business representatives, elected officials, department heads, the public, and other City employees with courtesy and tact.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.Utilize a computer and required software.Work the required hours of the position and respond after hours as needed.Work rotating weekends in summer for pool maintenance.Minimum Requirements & Physical RequirementsMinimum Education:Apprenticeship in the Plumbing field.Minimum Experience:Licensed as a Wisconsin Journeyman Plumber with at least 1,000 hours of experience per year for at least three years.A combination of education and experience may be considered.Minimum Certifications:Journeyman Plumber license required.Master Plumber license required within 24 months of hire.Certified Pool Operator Certification or willingness to obtain within 24 months of hire.Cross Connection Control Assembly Tester or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire.Other Requirements:Valid unencumbered Wisconsin driver's license and safe driving record.Possession of a CDL is preferred.PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.This work requires the continuous exertion of up to 100 pounds of lifting/moving or force and continuous push/pull of up to 120 pounds while performing essential functions of the job.Work regularly requires the ability to stand, walk, sit;
