Job DescriptionDo not pass up this chance, apply quickly if your experience and skills match what is in the following description.CDM Smith is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Engineer to join our Water Services team. This position will focus on the design, development, and optimization of water distribution systems, sewer systems, and water mains to ensure clean water delivery and effective wastewater management. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in system design, sizing, and evaluation of sustainable water infrastructure solutions.Key Responsibilities:Design & Planning: Develop and design water distribution systems, sewer systems, and stormwater systems to ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable conveyance systems.System Optimization & Management: Analyze and optimize the performance of existing water distribution and sewer systems. Conduct assessments and provide solutions for system improvements such as leak detection, infiltration and inflow analysis, and sanitary sewer evaluation surveys.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that designs and operations comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including EPA standards and local water quality guidelines.Hydraulic Modeling: Utilize hydraulic models and simulations to evaluate water flow, pressure, and distribution within water mains and sewer systems.Task Management: Lead and manage the engineering aspects of water distribution and sewer system projects, including delegating to junior staff, presenting to clients, and managing task level budgets.Infrastructure Assessment: Conduct assessments of water mains, sewer systems, and related infrastructure to identify maintenance needs, upgrades, or replacement.Data Collection & Reporting: Collect data from various monitoring systems including flow meters, sampling events, and pump station data to produce technical reports on water quality, system performance, and environmental impact.Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering teams, environmental scientists, and clients to integrate sustainable practices into the design and management of conveyance systems.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).5 years of related experience.Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
