TheElectrician Diesel Engineposition is critical for ensuring the reliable operation and safety of locomotive electrical systems and shop machinery.This is a full-timeposition (40 hrs/wk)and is subject to seniority and governed by union agreement.Assigned shift may be one of three 8-hour shifts.Mechanical shops operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.Travelis minimal.Trainingis company paid on-the-job paid training.Key responsibilities may include:Testing, inspecting, and repairingelectrical components of locomotive systems and shop machinery.Maintaining and repairinglocomotive alternators, generators, motors, AC/DC power control systems, electrical cabinets, lighting, batteries, and wiring.Inspecting, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairingelectrical components of shop equipment (drop tables, welding, mechanical and electromagnetic equipment) and performing preventative maintenance to ensure proper function.Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environmentwhere the working conditions caninclude diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working on or around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.At BNSF safety is one of our core values that guides us through everything we do.Our employees engage in safety conversations, through an approaching others mindset to help us achieve our tremendous potential.
