About the jobDo you have the skills to fill this role Read the complete details below, and make your application today.The Senior Quantity Surveyor is required to provide commercial support to the project team, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and ensure that the Company's objectives are achieved. They will liaise with customer representatives and other third parties on commercial issues including agreement of variations, claims and any additional payments. Will also be tasked in building a new estimating department working alongside the MD and delivering regular updated reports CVR.Key Responsibilities:Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levelEnsure accurate cash flow reporting takes placeCarry out cost management including forecastingUpdate the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for the commercial performance and strategyProcesses:Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the business unitActively seeking to improve processes and procedures within a growing niche business.Have a good understanding of JCT - NEC and bespoke contractsExternal Relationships:Ensure that any main contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate for , with commercial risks identifiedEnsure that the supply chain are engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditionsEnsure that good client relationships are fosteredBe responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accountingInternal Relationships:Effectively assist in managing the team, including estimators and commercial support staffEnsure effective interaction between the commercial team and the operational site teams Supervise and mentor Junior Quantity SurveyorsKey Measures and targets:Accurate monthly forecastingAbility to challenge resources and costsMaintaining deadlines in line with monthly commercial calendarEstimating of complex schemes and supporting the Bid ManagerConversion rates from active opportunitiesKey Relationships:Managing Director /Managing Technical Director and rest of estimating team Business Development and Bid Managers.Person Specification:The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:EssentialHND/degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalentPrevious experience of the Maintenance and Civils industryProven track recorded of estimating and conversion ratesFamiliarity with JCT/NEC and bespoke forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates and accruals calculationsAbility to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines.Ability to encourage and support junior members of the Commercial Team
