DescriptionA variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role Please ensure you check the overview below carefully.This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for aCivil/Geotechnical Engineerto join our Mine Waste team.The position will be located in our located in for our Lakewood, Colorado office; however, other WSP office locations will be considered for an exceptional candidate.Be involved in projects with our US Mine Waste Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. In this role you will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects.Your ImpactWorking within our Mine Waste team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industryPerforming engineering tasks such as:Geotechnical field investigationsSite and material characterizationDesign of facilities including grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluationsSlope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and deformation analyses to support facility designsSurface water management analysis and facility designsPreparing technical reports that document field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designsAssisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimatesPerforming domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoringWorking with and leading multi-disciplinary project teams.Supporting technical proposals and design work package in response to client needs.Managing the work of junior engineers.Mentoring peers and fostering a good work culture.Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and construction.Complete training on assigned tasks.Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.Performing additional responsibilities as required by business needs.Who You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering, or closely related discipline.Engineer in Training Certification.3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience.Strong analytical skills including the ability to complete engineering calculations and analyses.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work both independently and on teams.Comfortable working in remote settings.An active focus on health and safety for themselves and others.Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.Preferred Qualifications:Master's Degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological engineering, or an equivalent field of study.Professional Engineer Registration or the ability to complete the PE exam within 6 months to 1 year of start date.Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including scoping, and tracking hours and expenses for project work commensurate with years of experience.Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD,Civil 3D, Muk3D).Familiarity with discipline-specific geotechnical analysis software (i.e., Slide2D, Slope/W, Seep/W).WSP Benefits:WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee's career. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.Expected Salary (Colorado only): $73,100 - $107,000WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
