We cover all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover.We also provide specialist technical support to colleagues across our global business, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically complex work.The scale of investment required in AMP8 is a significant challenge but also a major opportunity to provide a long-lasting legacy to our clients and their regions. It also requires new more efficient ways of delivering our services and for the successful candidate to demonstrate their ability to identify and implement innovations that maintain delivery to programme and commercial targets.Overview of the roleAs a result of our growth drive, we are looking to expand and strengthen our team in Spain to become a central hub for delivering engineering design services, and we are seeking an Associate Civil Engineer with experience in infra and non-infra to lead our technical teams. This a fantastic professional opportunity for a driven individual, with a strong water and wastewater infrastructure experience, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams of technical specialists in response to AMP8 challenges. Typical duties and responsibilities will include:Provide technical guidance across our programmes of potable water and wastewater pipelines and treatment works.Direct, develop and supervise a team of design staff, providing technical and commercial guidance to support their development and to respond to the needs of the programme.Guide the delivery of pipelines, sewers and treatment programmes to budget, programme and quality standards, working collaboratively across disciplines to efficient delivery.Produce and review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and reports, proactively managing design risk to deliver constructable solutions.Deliver projects in close partnership with clients and contractors.Represent the company in meetings, building strong relationships with our clients that will enhance our reputation and help secure further work.Contribute to commercial success through forecasting and risk management, and the production of bids and proposalsWorking with resource leads to coordinate project resources and to grow and develop our capability through recruitment and training.Business development including providing specialist support to our Account Leaders and Practices and guiding on proposals and tenders in the water and wastewater fields.Question the client's technical standards and the acceptance of waivers and deviations, relevant to their discipline.At Mott MacDonald you will have control of your own career path and great prospects for career progression as the business continues to grow. We can offer development in technical, management or client-facing directions.Candidate specificationRequired skills and experience:Chartered Status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institution.Proven ability to lead a portfolio of technical projects, ensuring compliance with relevant quality assurance and technical standards and supporting the development of less experienced staff.Demonstrable experience in pipeline, sewers and treatment civil design.Strong communication skills with experience in effective collaboration across internal multi-disciplinary teams with other technical disciplines including environmental specialists, geotechnical, structural, electrical and mechanical engineers.A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutionsDesirable:Able to travel to other offices and sites, as required.Track record in building teams and capability of junior staff.Experience in preparing successfully bids and in undertaking client engagement.Project Management experience is not essential but previous experience or a desire to develop these skills would be beneficial.Good understanding of designers' responsibilities under CDMStrong digital capability (e.g. Civils 3D, GIS, hydraulic modelling software)Contributed towards the identification and development of low carbon solutions.Experience in the UK water sector would be advantageous although not necessary.We are actively recruiting a diverse workforce that is reflective of the communities we serve.
