This position will support all aspects of design projects for roadways, utilities, sewers, bridges, etc. Furthermore, this position will prepare schematics & models, perform analysis & engineering calculations, develop plans, specifications & estimates, and prepare technical engineering reports.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:•Perform fundamental design and modeling tasks and assist in preparing permit applications, CAD, or GIS work.•Participate in data research, collection, and compilation efforts.•Analyze and correlate scientific and engineering data and recognize discrepancies in results using a series of related detailed steps or processes.•Assist in the preparation of reports, studies, and technical memoranda.•Review, evaluate, and verify the accuracy and viability of designs, data, reports, and other documents before submitting them to the next review level.•Responsible for proper quality assurance and quality control on projects to ensure projects meet Company, Industry, and Client standards and expectations.•Adhere to project deadlines and keep the Supervisor informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments.•Responsible for managing self on projects to ensure a quality product is produced in accordance with the schedule.COMPETENCIES:•Demonstrates knowledge of engineering techniques, procedures, and materials•Performs work accurately with a high degree of quality•Establishes priorities and plans work appropriately•Applies knowledge to identify problems and provides solutions•Seeks to gain knowledge and develop additional skills through formal training or mentoringQualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Education : High school diploma or equivalent (GED).Licensure : N/AJob Classification:Exempt (Salaried)Report to:Project Engineer - Team LeadExperience:Typically 5-7 years.Communication Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Technical Skills:Spatial and design skills to visualize projects in 2D and 3D. Experience with Bentley Suite of products, including MicroStation, ProjectWise, and AutoCAD preferred. Knowledge of local government agency standards, specifically IDOT and Illinois Tollway preferred.Supervisory Responsibilities:N/APhysical Demands:Must be able to sit, walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, climb or balance, talk or hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or control.Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.Working Environment:A general office environment that may require periods of sitting at a computer. The environmental conditions generally include ambient inside temperature, lighting, and noise level. Due to the collaborative nature of this position and accessibility for in-house meetings, it is important that the work may need to be performed in the office and during normal business hours.Occasional outdoor work may also be required throughout the year.Continuing Education:Completes state required competency.
