Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.Read on to fully understand what this job requires in terms of skills and experience If you are a good match, make an application.CIVIL ENGINEER, LAND DEVELOPMENT (STARSHIP LAUNCH PAD)As a member of the Starship Launch Pad Engineering team, you will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure that will enable orbital launch capability for the largest rocket in the world.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type land development projectsPerform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilitiesDrive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projectsManage the civil aspects of construction projects in the field; including quality control, conflict resolution, and coordination of a multi-discipline contractor teamInteract with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedule, and cost estimates prior to project implementationResolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real timeBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other engineering discipline1+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and/or draftingPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Proficiency in technical skills in storm water management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development related designsUnderstanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, electrical and surveyingEIT or Professional Engineering (PE) licenseAbility to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while maintaining a high sense of urgency in a high-paced, challenging work environmentExperience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor managementADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape CanaveralAbility to perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heightsAbility to work extended hours and weekends as neededAbility to remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPEITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
