Job Description SummaryThe Nursing Assistant plays a crucial role in providing patient care throughout nursing areas. Their responsibilities include safely transporting patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, and accurately documenting services rendered.A high number of candidates may make applications for this position, so make sure to send your CV and application through as soon as possible.They must understand the patient's condition to ensure their care and safety.Job Responsibilities1. Patient CareDemonstrates the necessary skills and judgment to provide direct/non-direct care to patients under the supervision of licensed personnel.Observes, obtains, and reports patient data/status to assigned RN.Responds to changes in patient acuity and emergent situations as directed by nursing staff.2. Professional DevelopmentMaintains current knowledge and certification.Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Functions as a preceptor to new employees.Displays the ability to accept and respond to feedback and recommendations for change.Demonstrates professional working relationships with colleagues from all disciplines.Accountable for being informed about changes in hospital policy and procedure.3. Safety/QualityFosters a culture of safety through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.Verifies patient identification using two identifiers prior to starting any procedure.Understands individual roles and responsibilities in emergency preparedness.Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and uses personal protective equipment as needed.Identifies patient fall risks and uses safety devices accordingly.Conducts patient safety rounds utilizing SBAR principles.Demonstrates proper body mechanics and uses patient lifts when needed.4. TechnologyUtilizes software applications required by department standards.Understands how to operate in downtime.5. ComplianceWorks within legal, regulatory, and ethical practice standards.Complies with applicable policies and procedures.Safeguards patient information and complies with SSH's privacy and security programs.Reports potential compliance issues to management.6. Patient and Family Centered CareProvides respectful care that acknowledges patient and family values and preferences.Recognizes patients and families as important members of the healthcare team.Collaborates with patients and families in planning and implementing care.Welcomes family presence at all times.7. Age & CultureProvides care that considers individual needs and cultural awareness.Interacts sensitively with diverse populations.Utilizes resources to provide culturally sensitive care.Job RequirementsMinimum Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred.Minimum Work Experience: Previous Nursing Assistant or equivalent experience preferred.Required Classes/Skills:BLS - Basic Life Support.Basic medical terminology.Basic computer skills.Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.Ability to interact efficiently and effectively with various individuals.
