Position Summary:All candidates should make sure to read the following job description and information carefully before applying.The Team Lead is responsible for overall team operations and supervision of their team members. This includes directing and/or leading design professionals within their discipline and working with other design disciplines internal and external to PEC to develop engineering solutions for PEC's Clients. The Team Lead, along with input from the Vice President or Practice Lead, has primary responsibilities for their Team's operations including workload planning, risk and financial management, and customer service.Duties and Responsibilities:Provide leadership including technical operations such as engineering, risk and financial management, and customer servicePerform and/or direct engineering studies and design, coordination with other design staff for construction document and specification production in compliance with applicable standards and codesPerform and/or directs design computations by hand and by computer softwareReview project submittals for compliance with design checklists and drafting standardsProvide recommendations to the Technical VP regarding staff recruitment, mentoring and training, performance issues, staff appraisals, compensation, and staff reductionsAssist with recruiting efforts when assignedDevelop and review scope of work, schedules and fees related to proposed contracts for work to be performed by team membersMonitor available information as required to understand the current performance of the team's projectsMentor applicable staff on project execution, performance, project management, and client managementDevelop scope of work, schedules and fees related to proposed contractsActively participate in corporate management activities and committees that will build productive relations with other Teams and DivisionsIdentify training needs and opportunities for team membersIdentify, direct, and manage workload for the team. Coordinate with VP and other team leads for work-sharing across the discipline. PEC's standard resource planning software shall be utilizedVerify that all business practices and quality procedures are being adhered to by team membersEnforce corporate/division standards and processes while enforcing quality control requirements as set forth by the company/department/divisionAssess risks to reduce and actively manage risks while assuring that the required risk management practices are in placeSupport and implementation of strategic planningOther projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretionSpecial Knowledge, skills, and abilities:Considerable knowledge and understanding of discipline specific engineering design and construction standards and practicesProficient skills using Microsoft office and BluebeamFamiliar with applicable software applications and processesAbility to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external project teams, the client, and other stakeholders as appropriateAbility to work well independently or as part of a teamStrong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide others, and to build effective and cohesive relationshipsA high degree of skill in managing teamsProven experience in planning, organizing, prioritizing, coordinating, training, supporting, assigning, and evaluating the work of a teamAbility to lead multiple projects/tasks and drive projects to completion with strong operability to support reliable, high-quality productionUnderstand the impact of decisions on technical design and work planningAbility to lead a team of professionals engaged in engineering design and construction administrationCapable of developing new business in engineering services, including identifying, positioning for, and preparing proposals for individual business opportunitiesEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from ABET Accredited University preferredA minimum of seven (7) years of actual experience in the engineering industryLicense and Certification:Professional Engineer (PE) License preferredWork Environment:PEC values a healthy work-life balance, and we focus on working efficiently and collaboratively to ensure quality and productive work as well as quality time away from the office. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and similar machines.
