Position: Grinder JOB SUMMARY: Grinder inspects parts for defects following the forging process including flash and excess material. Will use various surface-grinding tools to remove the defects from manufactured parts. This position reports to the Shift Lead, Department Supervisor and/or Department Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain a safe work environment.Visually and by touch will inspect forged parts and work pieces for excess metal.Select the proper size of bell grinder and remove excess metal from manufactured parts to blue print/specifications/shop order instructions.Remove defects and flash extension per requirements.Maintain accurate part and or work piece counts.Assure quality and production requirements are met, as per the job-specific travelers.Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.Participate in departments 5s program.Maintain an acceptable attendance record.Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to supervisor.Comply with all APP, Inc. safety rules and company policies.Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported.Wear proper Personal Protection Equipment in work area at all time.Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.Read blue printsUse of precision tools (calipers, scissor micrometer, height gage, ball/flat micrometer, etc.)Maintain a clean and orderly work area.Takes strong ownership of work in progress and communicates with co-workers, Leads, Supervisors and Managers (as needed)Comply with all APP, Inc. safety rules and company policiesDemonstrates a firm commitment to achieving APP's Key ResultsReport any equipment or facility defect(s) to Lead / Supervisor / Manager.Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported per APP's safety policy.This is a full time opportunity. 5 days a week. 8+ hours per day The ideal candidate will have: 2-3 years working in Manufacturing/Aerospace environmentMust have experience working with hand/power toolsSchedule: Monday thru Thursday 3:30PM to 2AM and Friday 1:30PM to 10:00PM.
