The primary purpose of your job position is to assure that quality food service is provided at all times and to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, as established by the policies and procedures under the direction of the Dining Services Director. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have, as a minimum, 2 years cooking experience in a hospital, long-term care community, restaurant, or other food service community. Or, a graduate of an accredited course in dietetic training approved by the American Dietetic Association. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTSMust be able to read, write, and speak English language or use modifications to assist to meet health and safety standards.Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.Possess leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.Be able to follow written and oral instructions.Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.Knowledge of dietary procedures, as well as related laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to food service operations. Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.Maintaining the care and use of supplies, equipment, appearance of work area (i.e. inspection of service areas for sanitization, order, safety).Must attend and participate in continuing education programs.Must adhere to dress code as per community policy.
