LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 25,000 students. More than one-third of our degree-seeking students were born outside of the United States, coming to LaGuardia from 136 countries and speaking forty-three heritage languages. Reporting to the Chair of the Humanities Department, the College Laboratory Technician in Theater will be responsible, but not limited to, the following duties:Perform the role of production manager and production stage manager for Theatre Program productions;Perform technical duties in support of coursework for on-campus theatre courses including Stagecraft, Theatre Production Workshop, Acting I & II, Directing or the Stage, and Introduction to Design for Theatre;Assist students with the use of theatrical equipment and shop materials;Set-up, maintain, and organize Theatre Program spaces including the Blackbox (a shared space only used 50% of the time), prop room, and control booth;Maintain appropriate safety standards;Manage the purchase, inventory and maintenance of equipment and materials for productions and classes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. OTHER QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of two years' experience in production management and/or stage managementProficient in computer programs: Microsoft Office suiteExcellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; the ability to work collaboratively with various departments and external partners. Evidence of continued, appropriate professional developmentFlexible work hours required. COMPENSATION$47,509 - $69,517 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
