Pool Technician/Plumber, Facilities ManagementWant to apply Read all the information about this position below, then hit the apply button.Perform the full range of journey level functions of a Pool Technician/Plumber.Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles) Start Date: Immediately Applications Deadline: Open until filledPosition Hourly Rate Range: $30.00Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.Duties and Responsibilities:Inspects, cleans, maintains, repairs, designs, and modifies university swimming pool and all associated equipment Interacts with university suppliers and vendorsInspects, maintains, repairs, designs, modifies, and alter campus infrastructure to include all buildings, common areas, equipment and building systems to ensure the efficient operation of plumbing on both campuses. Assemble, install, and repairs pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass, copper or lead, and nonmetals such as as glass, vitrified clay and plastic. Operate, inspect, and maintain plumbing and pool maintenance tools. Maintains filters, back wash and pumps according to establish procedures. Check and perform preventative maintenance on pumps, chlorinators, heating and filtration equipment to maintain operative conditions. Prepares and maintains records regarding chlorine and PH levels, time sheets, supplies and county health department recordsSets up pool equipment for swim classes, meets and occasional weekend swim eventsCleans and disinfects deck areaDrains and acid washes poolPerforms other related duties and general maintenance as assigned. Other Duties and Responsibilities:Perform other job related duties as assigned. Job Requirements:Knowledge:Working knowledge of the techniques, methods, materials, equipment and tools of the swimming pool maintenance and plumbing trades.Skilled in the use of tools, and equipment used in pool maintenance and plumbing work. Abilities and Skills:Ability to understand and carry out basic oral or written instructions.Analytical, detail-oriented and accurate. Tests pool water for appropriate chemical levels.Cleans and maintains pool surfaces and related equipment.Measures, cuts, threads, assembles, and installs pipes and tubing under supervision.Checks plumbing systems to detect leaks.Unstops commodes, drains, sewer lines, and cleans grease traps.Installs water and sanitary fixtures under supervision.Makes repairs to water and waste disposal systems. Education:High School diploma required. Certification in related trades preferred.
