Position: Talent Search STEM Camp CounselorIf you would like to know a bit more about this opportunity, or are considering applying, then please read the following job information.Classification: TemporaryDepartment: Estherville CampusReport To: Talent Search Coordinator; Under the supervision of the TRIO Director General Job Summary:This is a federally funded 3 day/2 night STEM Camp Counselor position June 3-5, 2025. Approximately 70 students from area middle schools will be housed on the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. A total of six camp counselors will be hired to work with middle school students, college faculty, and Talent Search staff. Counselors will help lead/supervise students during academic and social activities. In addition, the Counselors will be responsible for the students on a 24-hour basis from Tuesday until Thursday evening when the camp ends. % of TimeEssential Duties/ResponsibilitiesConstant(67-100%)1 Assist with supervision of students during academic and social events. 2. Provide a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere conducive to maximum student growth3. Interpret and ensure compliance of rules and regulations of students.4. Work with program staff in enforcement of program policies.5. Assure that dormitory discipline and related matters are handled in fair and consistent manner.6. Transport students to and from scheduled off-campus activities in 12-passenger college vans.7. Attend camp counselor training on Tuesday, June 3 before students move in.8. Prepare and lead team-building and enrichment activities as assigned.9. Keep and prepare reports and records as assigned by the Talent Search staff.10. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:High level of maturity, motivation, and responsibility.Ability to work independently and as a team member.Demonstrates excellent communication skill.Must live in Iowa Lakes Estherville housing June 3-5, 2025. Special Demands:Light to medium work. Position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift or move objects. Must be able to perform routine stooping, bending, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motion continually. Occasional kneeling and crawling. Must have valid driver's license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance. Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
