STAT DIESEL ENG OPER/MECHA high number of candidates may make applications for this position, so make sure to send your CV and application through as soon as possible.Miami Field Station4219BRJob DescriptionOperates, maintains, and overhauls stationary diesel engines, electric pump motors, large pumps, ancillary machinery, and fueling systems including tank maintenance and equipment at local/remote pumping stations. Operators must have the aptitude to operate pumps and equipment using computerized software at both local and remote operating stations from a centralized location.Performs preventative maintenance of diesel engines, main pumps, generators, compressors, travel screens, raw water intake, and trash rake. Detects, diagnoses, repairs, and reports machinery and equipment malfunctions using a computer maintenance-based system (SAP). Utilizes basic mathematical skills to compute water elevations using various data."‹Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings, specifications, and SOPs to understand operations of pumping stations, piping systems, and machinery layout. Maintains a manual and electronic history of machinery equipment and water conditions, using Excel and SAP, a work order-based software.Performs maintenance on pump station buildings and grounds, including, but not limited to, general housekeeping, pressure cleaning, and painting, as well as minor structural repairs.This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcohol testing.Other duties as assigned.Work hours are Monday - Thursday from 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Employment GuidelinesHigh School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel engines. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. The hiring range for this position is $55,328.00 to $63,086.40 (based on education and years of relevant work experience). An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.LicenseValid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without restriction to operate a vehicle equipped with airbrakes and manual transmission. If the selected candidate does not currently possess CDL, the District will provide 2 months from the date of hire to obtain CDL Learner's Permit and 6 months to obtain CDL. The district is willing to pay the cost of the CDL training program.Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in Forklift Operations Certification and First Aid/CPR/AED.Physical Requirements/Working EnvironmentDue to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during, and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on the assigned emergency response role.Overtime will be required based on weather and/or environmental conditions.Primarily works inside during pumping operations and outside maintaining equipment and facility. Some exposure to unpredictable weather conditions. May work various shifts covering 24 hours a day seven days a week.Regularly sets up, adjusts, tests, and operates equipment to complete assignments. The work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.This position normally involves daily travel from the employee's assigned station to work sites located within the District's jurisdiction.
