If so, we'd love to hear from you!What we are looking for: The Senior Tax Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's tax liabilities, assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities with a focus on cannabis taxation and 280E compliance.Duties/Responsibilities:• Preparing and reviewing federal, state, and local tax returns for cannabis businesses.Advising clients on 280E tax strategies and cost accounting methods to maximize deductions.Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts with an emphasis on taxation.Preparing journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations and assisting with month-end close processes.Contributing to the development and review of annual tax planning strategies and compliance requirements.Maintaining documentation for accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury and conducting internal audits.Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.Ensuring books are audit-ready, including reviewing transactions, third-party accounts, and intercompany transactions.Compiling cash reports and assisting the corporate controller with cash forecasting and tax planning.Responding to tax-related information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.Ensuring compliance with GAAP and IRS Section 280E and participating in external audits when needed.Assisting the controller as needed.Required Skills:• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, CPA preferred.4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on cannabis taxation.Advanced user of MS Office suite, particularly Excel.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong numeracy and analytical skills.Good problem-solving and time management skills.Highly organized and detail-oriented.Experience with cannabis-specific accounting regulations and compliance.
