Position SummaryReady to make your application Please do read through the description at least once before clicking on Apply.The position is responsible for providing legal counsel and policy support on American Chemistry Council (ACC) advocacy issues, protecting ACC's legal interests and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws. The position is also responsible for managing legal matters in assigned areas, including assisting in the selection of outside counsel as needed, managing outside counsel, and ensuring projects come in at or below budget. The position coordinates legal issues with appropriate in-house ACC clients and colleagues and reports directly to the General Counsel.Major Duties and Responsibilities Provides legal counsel, strategic advice, and policy support on regulatory, litigation and legislative advocacy issues.Reviews advertising, promotional and other communication materials for compliance with ACC policies.Develops and writes regulatory comments, position papers and other advocacy documents.Provides substantive legal counseling on assigned legal topics/issue areas.Provides preventative liability and antitrust counseling for assigned groups, including reviewing agendas, minutes and other communications materials.Manages selection, oversight and budget of outside counsel, including ensuring that the work product is of high quality and within budget.Manages litigation, including settlement negotiations, using outside counsel as appropriate.Drafts and negotiates contracts for the purchase of outside services as well as resolves contract disputes.Coordinates with member companies on matters of legal importance to ACC and its members.Builds and maintains positive and results oriented relationships with ACC staff, member company representatives and relevant third parties.Manages subpoena/deposition requests received by ACC.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications/RequirementsJ.D. from an accredited law school.Admission to the bar to practice law.10 years' experience as an attorney, with substantial general regulatory practice and environmental law and advocacy experience.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to process complex, technical, abstract verbal and written information for purposes of establishing a beneficial messaging framework, strategy, direction and action plans.Ability to provide strategic counseling, develop plans and execute supporting tactics.Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with competing priorities and exercise sound judgment in evaluating such situations and issues.Proven ability to work in a team environment.ACC BenefitsACC offers medical, dental, vision as well as a 401(k) matching contribution up to 6% of eligible compensation and an automatic 6% contribution of eligible compensation to the Profit-Sharing Plan, both vested immediately at 100%.
