As the Division Chief of Fire Prevention, you will be designated as the City's Fire Marshal and coordinate the City's community risk reduction efforts. You will assist the department in strategizing delivery methods and assessing the performance outcomes of its public fire safety education, fire and arson investigation, and other services.Your expertise will help drive operational efficiency and effectiveness, supporting the City's mission to serve the Leawood community to the best of our abilities. You will participate in the Fire Department's ongoing accreditation activities to help maintain its International Accredited agency standing and Insurance Services Office (ISO) Rating of 1.You might be the ideal person to join the Fire Department Management team if you:Are a dynamic and detail-oriented professional, passionate about giving back to the community through the city's community risk reduction program,Are adaptable and have the flexibility to take on new challenges when needed,Have a strong understanding of fire prevention principles and theories,Possess excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills,Have experience coordinating public fire safety education and completing fire and arson investigations, andAre ready for the next step in your career!Your work responsibilities may include:Overseeing the department's education programs and activities to reduce hazards and risks to various organizations, schools, and the public.Coordinating fire inspections and pre-emergency planning of various existing facilities around the City of Leawood and metro area.Overseeing fire and arson investigations in which you perform forensic analysis and witness interviews at fire incidents.Responding to major incidents in the City and across the metro area.Leading, mentoring, and developing a diverse team of fire professionals.Minimum Qualifications: Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of increasingly responsible fire service experience with five (5) years of supervisory experience. Must currently hold Fire Officer II Certification, IAAI Certified Fire Investigator Certification, and a nationally recognized fire inspection certification.
