Wisconsin Economic Development CorporationApply below after reading through all the details and supporting information regarding this job opportunity.Position DescriptionPosition Title: Diverse Business Development InternDepartment: Diverse Business Development Reports to: SeniorDirector of Diverse Business DevelopmentPosition(s) S Supervised: N/AFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPosition SummaryThe Diverse Business Development Intern will support WEDC (Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation) in four areas: events and activities, social media marketing, sponsorships, and competitive facts tracking and acquisition. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ResponsibilitiesThe Diverse Business Development Intern will spend the majority of their time in these activities:Social media (All social media, Marketing and Communications tasks will be done in conjunction with those respective WEDC departments)Under the direction of the Senior Director or Director of Diverse Business Development research, write and prepare content to provide WEDC marketing for the following WEDC social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.Update and maintain the Diverse Business Development Resources page.Acquiring or designing visual elements to accompany posts.Participating and contributing to content planning.Posting content as directed. Assist marketing efforts and contact media members to solicit coverage for WEDC initiatives and events. Identify and leverage resources necessary to achieve WEDC event marketing goals. Assist with conference workshop logistics and provide suggestions for workshop content design. Assist with scriptwriting as needed with WEDC Comms team Assist with registration and be the contact person for all registration inquiries. Develop committee agendas and minutes. Work with the Planning Committee to develop a list of volunteers to support the event. Assist with the Awards Program, which includes award nomination collection, business certification verification, award nominee script development for contracted videographers, and ordering awards. Produce follow-up reports and recommendations from each project. Track and document sponsorship funds. Assist Marketing Designer with promotional material, including Marketplace booklet, on-site signage, e-blasts, and related material. Attend Conference and assist with set-up Date and Location TBD (possible month - October or December) Assist with post-event survey and report.SponsorshipsReview and confirm all sponsorships in the current WEDC Fiscal Year marketing plan.For all sponsorships above $2,500 in cost, review the benefits provided to WEDC under the sponsorship and, where deemed appropriate, work with the sponsored organization to maximize the benefits provided to WEDC.For event-related sponsorships (banquets, etc.) that include attendance opportunities, ensure that WEDC personnel take maximum advantage of available tickets.Competitive facts tracking and acquisition.Maintaining and updating WEDC's inventory of competitive facts that help distinguish Wisconsin as a desirable venue for building a life, growing a career, and starting or growing a business in conjunction with existing WEDC SIP and Marketing efforts.Researching and updating existing facts to ensure accuracy and to ensure we can trace the source of each fact.Research new facts that further help distinguish Wisconsin from other states.Act as a WEDC contact point for state-wide supplier diversity efforts tied to large scale events.Additional activities supporting the WEDC Marketing & Brand Strategy leadership team as assigned.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Education and Experience:Current enrollment in a degree program related to WEDC economic work.Some project management/coordinator experience, desired.Some experience with CRM systems, especially Salesforce, desiredSkills and Talents:Ability to organize work, balance multiple priorities, and manage various projects in a fast-paced, flexible work environment with strong attention to detail.Strong problem-solving skills, sound reasoning, independent judgment, and initiative to accomplish tasks with little or no direction and to solve issues/accomplish tasks not requiring the involvement of others.Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office suite of products, CRM systems, and other software or applications associated with assigned work.Strong written and verbal communication skills to deal effectively with senior executives and diverse groups of people internal and external to the organization.Requires a high level of confidentiality and discretion.High level of professionalism.Bi-lingual a plus but not required (Spanish, Hmong)________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Other Requirements: State-wide travel will occur occasionally, less than 5% of the time. Travel is anticipated to include day and overnight trips.
