We're ready to help you achieve more.Make your application after reading the following skill and qualification requirements for this position.Purpose:The Accountant will oversee the reinsurance process for certain reinsurance treaties. This includes the execution, review, and analysis for each complex settlement assigned. This position reports to the Manager - Reinsurance Accounting but works independently with peers and leaders across the organization.Accountabilities:Maintains and prepares complex reinsurance settlements for assigned agreements. Includes coordinating work requirements and deadlines for and from other teams, journal entry preparation, and analysis of the results of the settlementsHelp in the development and maintenance of the automated reinsurance accounting systemMust develop a strong understanding of the mechanics of the reinsurance agreements assignedProactively researches and resolves variances and inconsistencies noted in settlements by investigating and analyzing resultsResponds to other departmental requests involving reinsurance informationPerforms analysis and reconciliations of complex balance sheet accountsResponsible for the timely and accurate preparation of month and quarter close activitiesActs as a first-level contact with assigned internal and external reinsurance stakeholdersAssists with departmental projects as assignedQualifications and Experience:3+ years of related experience preferred; with experience in public accounting or in the insurance industry preferredStrong analytical skills, with the ability to identify, research, and develop solutions to accounting issuesExperience in statutory or US GAAP accounting in a life insurance company is preferred, but not requiredExperience with Oracle, Essbase, and Hyperion is preferredCompletion of or interest in obtaining CPA and/or FLMI designations is preferredProficient with MS Office products such as Word and ExcelBachelor's degree in Accounting requiredDrive.
