Under general supervision of a Police Sergeant, the Part-Time Reserve Officer performs a wide variety of patrol and related duties involving the prevention of crime, the protection of life and property and the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The position conducts investigations, assists in the preparation of cases and testifies in court, and serves in specialized departmental roles as assigned. The incumbent provides information and assistance to the public; and performs related work as required.IDEAL CANDIDATE:Exercise sound independent judgment, discretion, impartiality, and professionalism.Possess a genuine passion for the East Palo Alto community and demonstrates unwavering dedication to fostering meaningful relationships with its members.Be a collaborative, inclusive, and encouraging team member.Be adaptable and able to work under stressful or difficult conditions.Be comfortable working in inclement weather conditions at all hours of the day and night, including on weekends and holidays.Bilingual is highly desirable.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of an accredited police academy.Experience: Two (2) years of college level coursework in criminal justice and/or a related field and/or volunteer law enforcement experience is desirable.License and Certifications:Must possess a valid California class C driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.Must possess a valid accredited police academy certificate issued by a California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified academy and the ability to pass and maintain firearms qualification.APPLICATION PROCESS:To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates should apply through .
