The primary purpose of this position is to install, operate, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical power production equipment and associated components, electrical distribution equipment, diesel, gasoline, and /or multifuel engines, and aircraft arresting barriers. Apply Now!Hourly Salary starts at $33.61 - $39.26 (Based on Experience)AFCS Benefits:• Paid Time Off• 11 Federal Holidays each year• 13 sick leave days earned per year (accumulative)• Paid Vacation Time• 13-26 days per year based on length of employment• Health Insurance• No waiting period to qualify for you and your family• Retirement• Immediate coverage by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS)• Basic Benefits Plan• Social Security• Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), like a 401(k) (Automatically receive 1% agency contributions and up to 5% matching)Qualifications:• U.S. Citizenship• Obtain & maintain a Security clearance• Drug Test: Yes• Knowledge of principles and operational fundamentals of electricity (AC/DC), solid state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to powered support systems, and the operation of emergency generator power systems. • Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel and gasoline engines.• Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; environmental standards and requirements; and regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation. • Skill in reading, interpreting, using wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, technical publications, and similar guides; and using hand and power tools, instruments, test equipment, and electrical meters to include special tools such as hydraulic knock-out tools, hammers, drills, valve spring compressors, and micrometers.• Skill in installing, operation, inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and modifying generators, automatic transfer switches, and uninterruptible power systems, maintaining, overhauling, repairing, and reconditioning internal combustion engines, both diesel and gasoline, and troubleshooting complex situations related to electrical power generators. • Ability to apply shop procedures, policies, written and oral instructions, and directives sufficient to provide training to others.
