English Together is currently seeking a dedicated and dynamic Community and Outreach Specialist to join their team. This position is essential for expanding English Together's mission of bringing together Spanish-speaking workers in Silicon Valley with local volunteers who can help them practice workplace English. The selected individual will work directly to support Latino workers from English Together's partner organizations, such as schools, faith communities, worker organizations, labor unions, businesses, and other Silicon Valley nonprofits. They will be responsible for growing the organization's volunteer network by recruiting Spanish-speaking volunteers to support these learners. The organization focuses on the practical, everyday English that workers need and, at the same time, creates rich connections between ordinary speakers of English and workers in their communities.QualificationsBachelor's degree with knowledge of community-based organizations preferredAbility to communicate orally and in writing in English and SpanishProject management and event planning experience preferredComfortable working both independently and as part of a teamCommitment to the mission, philosophy, and values of English TogetherProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Google Suite. Ideally familiar with DonorSnap and or similar software, Mailchimp.Working knowledge of social mediaFlexibility in working occasional nights and weekend hoursExperience working with immigrant communities or low-income Spanish-speaking individuals.California driver's license in good standing, current verifiable insurance, and access to a vehicle for work-related local travelQuick learner of new technologiesDetail orientedResponsibilitiesWorks collaboratively with partner organization staffs to plan and implement English Together volunteer/worker English practice cyclesAssists partner organizations in recruiting potential participants (attends recruitment meetings, publicizes program, runs virtual and in-person informational meetings)Creates master lists of registered participantsInterviews registered participants to determine levels of English proficiencyManages communications with participants to ensure attendanceOversees the distribution of materials and equipment as needed.Communicates with Silicon Valley organizations (e.g., Uber, Applied Materials, Google) whose Latino employees might be recruited to serve as volunteer English Practice Partners for Latino workers.Publicizes the program as allowed by the organizationConducts informational meetings for prospective volunteersWorks with the materials development team to field-test materials with Latino workers.Provides generalized support for all programs and administrative work.Performs other special projects and duties assigned.#J-18808-Ljbffr
