We are also highly-ranked by Castle Connolly Medical, a healthcare rating company for consumers, among the top 5 leading U.S. medical schools for training doctors.Bargaining Unit: MCJob Summary:The Department of Hospital Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Assistant Administrator / Director of Emergency Preparedness. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Hospital Operations (COO), the successful candidate will:Demonstrate extensive experience in Disaster Plan Development, trainings and exercise programs development and implementation; in addition to leading the development/implementation of all existing and new trainings and exercise programs relating to emergency preparedness, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of Joint Commission standards and all other regulatory agencies.Remain informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency to maintain situational awareness for the hospital.Maintain plans that outline hospital operating procedures to be used in response to disasters or emergencies, such as hurricanes, nuclear accidents, terrorist attacks, and recovery.Develop and maintain liaisons with NYCDOHMH, ESF-8, GNYHA, HHS, FDNY, NYPD and similar agencies to advocate for University Hospital in city/state-wide plans development and response effort coordination.Remain informed of federal, state, and local regulations affecting emergency plans and ensuring that hospital plans adhere to these regulations.Be responsible for developing and delivering on Emergency Management contracts from the NYCDOHM/NYSDOH.Ensure timely reporting into NYCDOHMH, NYSDOH and HHS health reporting systems.Apply for funding for emergency management and related needs.Send out emergency messaging to Hospital for real events/or disaster exercises or drills.Lead the Emergency Preparedness performance improvement activities.Serve as the alternate chairperson of the SUNY-UHD Emergency Management Committee.Serve as the Emergency Management representative on the UHD's Environment of Care (EOC) Committee and hospital-wide department head meetings.Supervise the Assistant Emergency Preparedness Management Coordinator and all their activities.Required Qualifications:Master's Degree from an accredited college/university in a related field.Emergency Preparedness/Disaster Planning work experience is a must as well as substantive professional experience in Emergency Management/Disaster Planning activities.Familiarity with a hospital setting and Command Center protocol.Knowledgeable with DOH/The Joint Commission standards.Preferred Qualifications:NIMS Certified/MPA preferredWork Schedule: Variable Days; 8:00am to 4:00pm (Full-Time)Salary Grade/Rank: MP-4Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualificationsEqual Employment Opportunity Statement: SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, creed, age, disability, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, familial status, pregnancy, predisposing genetic characteristics, military status, domestic violence victim status, criminal conviction, and all other protected classes under federal or state laws.Women, minorities, veterans, individuals with disabilities and members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.If you are an individual with a disability and need a reasonable accommodation for any part of the application process, or in order to perform the essential functions of a position, please contact Human Resources at : September 20, 2024 Eastern Daylight TimeApplications close: Open until filled#J-18808-Ljbffr
