Scientist/Sr. Scientist Data Curator - Life SciencesCheck below to see if you have what is needed for this opportunity, and if so, make an application asap.Full-time remote positionRancho Biosciences is seeking a data curator with a solid foundation in life science for a full-time role with the company. This is a remote position, and you can work anywhere in North America or Europe! Your primary focus will be on projects that include life sciences data curation.We are a Data Services company working with some of the most renowned pharmaceutical companies in the world. Our team of scientists, including data curators, data wranglers, computational biologists, bioinformaticians, and data engineers are located throughout the country; we support talented people living where they chose, working collaboratively together on projects that have a real impact on human health.In this role you will:Read, understand the scientific literature, and extract relevant information from publications and/or public online resources and data repositories creating reports and data manifests in a required format.Catalog, harmonize, and curate assay, clinical trial, and other biomedical data/metadata according to various data standards.Align data to ontologies/vocabularies.Support the definition of new data standards, data models, terminologies, and ontologies.Communicate strategies, ideas, goals, and progress to the team and/or to the customers. Provide presentations that are clearly articulated, engaging and convincing.Review and monitor work and its quality.Collaborate with scientists and business analysts to translate requirements into the implementation of FAIR* data principles.Desired Experience/Skills:Understanding of biomedical/biomarker data and/or other life science data.Experience writing reports and presenting results.Understanding of R&D processes and scientific data lifecycle.Familiarity with data standards, semantics, terminologies, ontologies (e.g., CDISC, OMOP, NCI, MedDRA, MeSH, RxNorm, OBI, LOINC, UBERON, DOID, or others) is a plus.MS Excel (R, Python, JAVA, SQL, HTML, etc. is a plus).Familiarity with public data repositories (e.g., GEO, SRA, AE or others) is a plus.Analytical thinking skills and a good understanding of scientific data.Familiarity with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data guiding principles is a plus.Familiarity with REST APIs, their usage, e.g., via CURL, as well as with JSON/JSON-LD and experience with ontology tools like Protégé and capability to write or adapt SPARQL queries is a plus.Soft Skills:The ability to lead projects, delegate tasks, and maintain budgets is a plus.The ability to learn new software systems and internal tools.High interpersonal skills, ability to meet and interact regularly with Rancho colleagues and various client stakeholders.The ability to work independently and as part of a team, provide feedback and suggestions.The ability to adhere to timelines.Detail-oriented and well organized, with an ability to work collaboratively/remotely.Excellent communication skills (English) and proven customer focus. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.Independently driven, hardworking, and committed.Education Requirements:PhD in Biology or related fields; or Master's or Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years relevant experience.#J-18808-Ljbffr
