We're backed by top investors including Menlo Ventures, Reach Capital, General Catalyst, BoxGroup, and Able Partners, and we're looking for mission-driven teammates to join our team.ABOUT THE ROLEAs one of Cartwheel's first Software Engineers, your mission will be to own engineering responsibilities for Cartwheel's first proprietary experiences as we scale from a pilot program in Massachusetts to a national program serving hundreds of school districts and millions of students. In doing so, you'd lay the foundation for Cartwheel to become the leading partner for schools nationwide in tackling the student mental health crisis.This role will work closely with the Head of Product and VP of Engineering to conduct user research, ideate, and drive engineering across the product development lifecycle.WHAT YOU'LL DOYou will work in our Ruby on Rails codebase to deliver high-quality, reliable software for our employees and clients.Developing front-end website architecture using hotwire and tailwind.Designing user interactions on web pages.Developing back-end website applications.Ensuring cross-platform optimization for mobile phones.Ensuring responsiveness of applications.Working alongside graphic designers for web design features.Seeing through a project from conception to finished product.Designing and developing APIs.Meeting both technical and consumer needs.Staying abreast of developments in web applications and programming languages.WHO YOU AREUnshakable desire to work at a rapidly-growing seed stage companyLove to iteratively deliver beautiful, easy to use experiencesEnjoy building products from inception to delivery and have a proven track record of delivering products with a measurable business impactComfortable creating your own structure, wrangling stakeholders, and making decisions with imperfect informationOpen-minded, asking and accepting tough questions with graceEnergetic, optimistic, resilient, and empathetic5+ years of experience with Ruby on RailsAccessible design and localization experience is a major plusProficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese also a major plusThe above is a summary of the role, not an exhaustive list.
