This role involves grantmaking, program development, and community engagement activities to ensure alignment with the foundation's mission and goals.The Director of Philanthropy will oversee and direct the Krause Family's contributions and philanthropic initiatives, encompassing gifts, grants, sponsorships, and in-kind opportunities. This role is responsible for identifying potential organizations for support and providing strategic direction on global charitable giving and philanthropic requests. The Director will track budgets and review financial reports related to the family's philanthropic activities.This role will develop and maintain key relationships to ensure the Krause Family's philanthropic missions are strategically implemented and promoted. This role is instrumental in enhancing the family's reputation through thoughtful and impactful giving strategies. The Director ensures that recognition and benefits are consistent with the family's giving guidelines, upholding the highest standards of excellence and integrity in all philanthropic endeavors.Principal Functions of the JobStrategic LeadershipDevelop and implement the foundation's strategic plan in alignment with the organization's mission and goals.Build a foundational operating model to support both responsive and strategic grantmaking.Provide visionary leadership to staff and stakeholders to inspire and motivate them towards achieving the foundation's objectives.Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation.Program ManagementOversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives.Coordinate and manage the Krause Group's annual United Way campaign.Ensure programs are aligned with the foundation's mission and meet the needs of the community.Manage the grantmaking process, including the review and selection of grant recipients.Financial ManagementDevelop and manage the foundation's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.Oversee financial reporting, audits, and compliance with regulatory requirements.Monitor and report on the financial performance of the foundation to the Board of Directors.Community and Public RelationsBuild and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders.Promote the foundation's work through effective communication and marketing strategies.Serve as the primary spokesperson for the foundation, representing it at public events, conferences, and media engagements.Board SupportCollaborate with the foundation's Board of Directors to develop policies, set strategic direction, and evaluate the foundation's performance.Prepare and present reports, updates, and recommendations to the Board.Support board recruitment, orientation, and engagement activities.ExperienceMinimum of 7-10 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and program development.Experience with strategic grantmaking and coalition building with a track record of positive impact on specific issues.Experience in nonprofit management, business administration, public relations, or a related field.Strong ability to develop and maintain key relationships with donors, nonprofit leaders, community stakeholders, and family members.Preferred experience in working with multi-generational family foundations.Minimum Skills and/or Knowledge RequiredProven experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, or a related field.Knowledge of compliance and legal requirements for nonprofit operations.Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.Excellent financial management and budgeting skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with family members and advisors.Ability to travel as needed to promote and execute charitable giving through major markets.Ability to work with discretion and confidential information.Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.Personal Attributes:Passionate about the foundation's mission and values.Innovative and forward-thinking.High level of integrity and ethical standards.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus.Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
