About the role We're hiring for an in-house counsel with experience in payments to help us navigate a complex regulatory environment as we scale to $1B+ in payouts processed. The job is split into two components: Handling forward-looking work within payments law, including our prepaid product strategy, ensuring compliance with KYC / AML, etc. Being responsible for day-to-day legal needs, including contract negotiations, data privacy agreements, and product-related questions. It's a big deal, because you'll get to help a fast-growing profitable company navigate a complex regulatory environment. What you'll do Serve as a trusted legal advisor and counsel to Tremendous leadership Structure, draft, and negotiate key deals with our financial partners Work closely with the leadership team to support and improve our regulatory structure, customer agreements, and financial partnerships Collaborate with a wide variety of Tremendous teams, including product, engineering, finance, and sales Stay up-to-date on regulations handling privacy, data security, consumer protection, money transmission, and prepaid law Monitor and enhance Tremendous' regulatory compliance policies and procedures Support subsidiary governance with respect to state filings, resolutions and consents, and returns and filings Requirements Significant experience working with fintech companies, either in-house or through a law firm Expertise in BSA/AML/OFAC requirements and compliance A minimum of 8 years of legal experience at a top law firm or in-house legal team A JD from a top law school What's cool about the role You'll work on a fast growing team.
