Position DescriptionAs our Senior Software Engineer you will be at the forefront of our Data Center Hybrid Cloud development, responsible for execution and troubleshooting of high quality SDN solutions for next-gen network HW including Switch, SmartNIC, Load balancer and Firewall building a cohesive, robust system.You will participate in architecture, design, implementation, and unit-test of network OS SW components. The ideal candidate will have good understanding of network protocols and SDN technologies, as well as able to navigate the network complexities to design and debug solutions. This role is central to the GEICO technology organization, requiring a forward-thinking innovator ready to create robust network software components.Position ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will:Focus on developing flawless software components for Software-Defined network spanning Data Center and Hybrid Multi-Cloud environments.Collaborate with architects, team members, and other engineering teams to solve our toughest network problems.Lead implementation of software components for data protection, disaster recovery, and security protocols.Lead implementation and support of software components related to SDN, including troubleshooting, and resolving any system issues to ensure high availability and performance.Ensure continuous improvement by judicious testing through CICD framework to ensure the security, stability, and scalability.Utilize programming languages like C, Python, GoLang or other object-oriented languages, Container services like Docker.Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and insight related to cloud infrastructure and best practices in network system management.QualificationsExcellent in coding and ability to design, develop, test, and operate in a cross functional team environment.Familiarity with Software-Defined network architectures and solutions with network operating systems such as open source SONiC, traditional network protocols such as BGP, HW abstraction layer such as Open Compute SAI, and Switch/SmartNIC HW dataplane programming.Familiarity with virtualization technologies and their interaction with underlying storage infrastructures.Solid knowledge of network protocols and forwarding for Switch and experience with HW programming.Familiarity with Linux operating systems and programming languages such as C/C#, Java, Python, GoLang.Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, troubleshooting complex network issues to solve for performance bottlenecks, network recovery, and optimization challenges. Enable a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues before they arise.Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with team members within the organization, build strong relationships with external team members.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues before they arise.Desired Experience4+ years of professional software development experience3+ years of experience with systems architecture and design3+ years of experience in open-source network solutions2+ years of experience working with hyper scale cloud provider solutionsEducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceAnnual Salary$100,000.00 - $215,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
