Illumination Foundation (IF) is a growing non-profit organization dedicated towards disrupting the cycle of homelessness by providing targeted, interdisciplinary services in our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing services and children's and family programs. IF currently has 13+ facilities with 22+ micro-communities scattered across Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.Making sure you fit the guidelines as an applicant for this role is essential, please read the below carefully.Job DescriptionThe Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for the coordination and administration of routine people operations. The role of the Employee Relations Specialist has both strategic and administrative responsibilities and plays a leading role in planning and carrying out important functions, such as talent acquisition, employee relations, training and development, and compensation and benefits. The Employee Relations Specialist will also participate in cross-functional HR projects and initiatives as assigned by HR Management.The salary range for this position is $66,560 - $68,000 annually, depending on experience.ResponsibilitiesConflict Resolution: Investigate and mediate employee complaints, disputes, and conflicts in a fair and timely manner, providing support and guidance to employees and management.Employee Relations: Act as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, providing advice and assistance on workplace policies, procedures, and performance management. Policy Compliance: Ensure that all employee relations activities comply with company policies, employment laws, and regulations, including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, and FLSA. Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations into claims of workplace misconduct, harassment, or discrimination. Compile and document findings and provide recommendations for corrective actions.Performance Management: Support managers in handling performance issues, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Provide coaching and advice on proper documentation and procedure.Training & Education: Assist in developing and implementing employee relations training programs for management to improve workplace communication, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.Engagement & Retention: Work with HR and leadership teams to identify and address employee engagement issues, contributing to retention strategies and promoting a positive organizational culture.Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of employee relations cases, investigations, and outcomes. Prepare reports and analysis on employee relations trends and metrics.Policy Development: Assist in the review, update, and implementation of HR policies to ensure they align with current employment laws and organizational needs.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred.Experience:1-3 years of experience in human resources with a focus on employee relations, conflict resolution, or labor relations.Experience conducting investigations and resolving complex employee relations issues.Skills:Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, to ensure full compliance when conducting investigations.Excellent communication, mediation, and negotiation skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively navigate sensitive matters and deliver clear messages.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.Time management skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail.Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on finding solutions that foster a professional and positive work environment.Proficiency in HR software Paycom & UKG, preferred.Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred Qualifications:PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification Working Conditions:Office-based with travel for off-site meetings or investigations within Orange County, Los Angeles, and the Inland Empire.BenefitsMedical Insurance funded up to 91% by Illumination Foundation (Kaiser and Blue Shield), depending on the planDental and Vision InsuranceLife, AD&D and LTD Insurance funded 100% by Illumination FoundationEmployee Assistance ProgramProfessional Development Reimbursement401K with Company Matching10days vacation PTO/year6 days sick PTO/year10 days holiday PTO/yearPotential eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSFL) for federally qualified loans#J-18808-Ljbffr
