Under limited supervision, the Director of Academic Technology and Professional Development directs and coordinates efforts to develop and implement strategies and initiatives that reinforce excellence in teaching and learning while encouraging the use of innovative practices and tools in the delivery and assessment of instruction.The Director will facilitate the design, delivery, and assessment of professional development programming for all faculty and staff members.The Director will create and maintain a Teaching and Learning Resources website that can be accessed by all college employees.The Director will collaborate with the Academic Division deans, department chairs, program directors, as well as the Planning and Research Office, to support the assessment of teaching and learning, including the assessment of General Education Outcomes, programmatic goals and objectives, and evaluation of instructors.The Director will lead the department, ensuring the development of high-quality, consistent online courses using Moodle, while maintaining Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Department of Education (DOE) compliance.The Director will provide high-level planning, development, implementation, and assessment for a wide variety of professional development opportunities for all employees. This includes researching, developing, implementing and assessing new professional development opportunities for all employees.The Director teaches one course per year to maintain currency in the art and practice of teaching.The Director of Academic Technology and Professional Development reports to the Assistant Vice President of Curriculum and Instruction.TrainingTo be considered for an interview, please make sure your application is full in line with the job specs as found below.Master's degree from an accredited institution with 18 graduate hours in a relevant academic field of study or a Master's Degree in Higher Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a comparable degree and at least five years of full-time higher education teaching experience.KnowledgeKnowledge of instructional design and best practices in teaching and learning in traditional and online classes and demonstrated experience in curriculum innovation.Extensive knowledge of current technologies and teaching strategies that support online and hybrid learning.Knowledge of assessment of student learning outcomes and practices in instructional effectiveness.Demonstrated ability to supervise others.Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students and employees.ExperienceOnline teaching/training experience.Assessing and evaluating outcomes/effectiveness and developing key performance metrics of online and hybrid teaching.LMS Administration experience.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Instructional Technology / Instructional System Design.Five years of experience or more in leading and supporting the use of academic technology and the professional development of faculty and staff, preferably in an academic institution.Experience in coordinating and managing relevant grant funding to implement academic technology programs.LMS Administration experience using Moodle.Has a demonstrated record of developing, implementing, managing, and assessing a comprehensive online education enterprise and is committed to providing an accessible education to a diverse student population.Physical RequirementsMust be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computer, typewriter, calculator, copier, etc.Must be physically able to move from building to building and perform computer work and presentations.Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of approximately ten pounds.Data ConceptionRequires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.Interpersonal CommunicationRequires the ability to speak in order to convey or exchange information.Includes the giving of instructions to students and the giving of assignments to assistants.Includes the receiving of information and instructions from supervisor.Language AbilityRequires the ability to read and understand a variety of documents and reports in both hard-copy and electronic formats.Requires the ability to prepare presentations, documents, and reports in both hard-copy and electronic formats such as assessments, budgets, statistical reports, various financial reports, etc., using the proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.Requires the ability to communicate with co-workers, other College personnel, students, personnel from other colleges, etc., with poise, voice control, professionalism, and confidence.IntelligenceRequires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.Must be able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Requires the ability to apply rational systems in order to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.Verbal AptitudeRequires the ability to record and deliver information and to follow verbal and written instructions.Numerical AptitudeRequires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas;
