With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.TRC is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Solid Waste) to join our Southeast ECC division. The ideal candidate must have 5-10 years of solid waste experience and must have a Professional Engineering License (PE) in Virginia; North Carolina preferred.The position is hybrid based out of one of our Virginia or North Carolina locations.The position provides opportunities for engineering design including detail preparation, land grading, stormwater calculations, report writing, permit application preparation and construction quality control. Projects include, but are not limited to, the design and permitting of landfills, transfer stations, convenience centers, recycling facilities, and composting operations.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:Responsibilities include engineering design, team support, and project management on a variety of waste resources engineering projects, with a particular focus on landfill design, landfill gas systems, landfill leachate systems, construction planning and oversight, landfill closure, landfill operations, landfill post closure care, transfer station design, MRF design, and recycling centers.QualificationsQualifications and Experience:Professional Engineer License required; Virginia required within six months, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida are a plus and may be required in the future5-10 years of landfill design experience requiredProficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, preferredExcellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills requiredExcellent technical/computer skills requiredAbility to work in a team environment and on multiple projects at the same timeMentor and train junior staffValid driver's license requiredIn addition to Solid Waste design, the successful applicant may also have experience in site planning, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, drainage design, grading plans.Experience in all of these areas is not needed to apply, however we are seeking individuals with experience in as many of these areas as possible:Landfill designLandfill permittingStormwater designWetland permittingLeachate system design, management, and treatmentLandfill gas collection and control system design including active gas systems.Management, blower/flair station, plant operations system troubleshooting and well field tuning, title V emissions reportingFacility siting, design, and construction management for: landfills, transfer stations, convenience centers, materials recovery facilities, composting facilitiesLandfill capacity analysisFacility / landfill financial assuranceOdor assessment and mitigation, tracer gas studies, ambient air monitoringSolid waste facility operationsConstruction management and quality assuranceDesign of landfill based renewable energy systems including solar and wind energy, landfill gas to energy-to-energy systemsOther waste to energy technologies including anaerobic digestion and biogas#LI-LD1EEO StatementTRC is an equal opportunity employer: disability/veteran.
