It is a hybrid position requiring three days (Tues/Wed/Thurs) in office at the Indianapolis, Indiana headquarters location in the Castleton area.SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for all the organization's human resources programs, functions and ensures compliance by demonstrating strong initiative and self-direction, getting results with and through people. A sincere appreciation for people and how they are each uniquely motivated is the foundation for designing and implementing interactive communication and decision-making processes. Develops, maintains, and executes policies and programs related to the human resources function which requires a high degree of "selling", whether of ideas and policies within the organization. This role requires regularly meeting and pro-actively establishing relationships with new groups including the upper management and employees to ensure success. The ability to understand, quickly react and motivate others to adapt to the changing organization environment is a critical key to success.Essential ResponsibilitiesPlans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.Implements and annually updates compensation program; develops and updates job descriptions as necessary; coordinates salary surveys; analyzes compensation; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook policies and procedures.Develops, recommends, and implements benefit programs in coordination with brokerage company and CFO including annual re-evaluation of benefit plans/policies for cost effectiveness, information activities program, and cash flow; works with Payroll and Benefits Coordinator to administer benefits, which include claims resolutions, change reporting, record management, monitoring stop loss and approving invoices for payment.Oversees corporate payroll and related activities for corporate payroll and its subsidiaries.Ensures EEO-1 report is filed annually; oversees and maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations. Responsible for ensuring 5500 filings have been completed filed.Regularly assess staffing needs, interview, hire and onboard qualified new hires. Manage onboarding process.Manages and assesses the efficiencies within the department and company, making improvements to the HR Systems and operations of department and company.Mitigates potential lawsuits and minimizes personnel issues, preventing the escalation.Ensures compliance of all human resources related activities.Develops and trains management on personnel matters, team culture and employee engagement. Maintains and oversees record management, maintaining paperless initiative and ensuring compliance of all human resource and company records.Develops and executes employee activities, creating and maintaining a positive company culture.Oversees recruitment effort for all positions; participates in employee orientations; conducts employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.Other FunctionsOversees FMLA, STD/LTD, ADA, EEO compliance and annual reports. Ensure compliance with local, state and federal rules, regulations, laws and postings.Oversees company practices, procedures, and policies.Oversees training and employee relations.Prepares unemployment responses and participates in UE hearings.Oversees educational assistance program.Oversees HR payable invoices.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in human resource or business-related field required. SPHR/PHR certification preferred. Seven years of human resource management required, and two years of payroll experience preferred. At least five years in a role providing direct strategic HR support and guidance to employees and leadership. Five years of experience in a people management role is highly required. Extensive experience in compensation, specifically relating to career ladders, promotions, benchmarking and company-wide leveling. Experience in personnel relations, benefit management, employee engagement and audits. Employee Relations experience that is objective, thorough, diplomatic, and discreet. Experience managing others, taking pride in supporting teammates while developing their careers.REQUIRED ABILITIES: Must be knowledgeable of all laws related to the human resources profession and familiar with general human resource concepts. Counseling and coaching skills. Analytical, critical thinking and ability to problem solve and solution oriented. Ability to work independently. Must have the ability to build and maintain relationships with managers and teams.
