Building on the company's leadership in the field of cellular metabolism, Agios is advancing a robust clinical pipeline of investigational medicines with active and planned programs in alpha- and beta-thalassemia, sickle cell disease, pediatric PK deficiency and MDS-associated anemia.The impact you will make:Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Associate Director, US Payer Marketing to join our growing Market Access team. The Associate Director will be responsible for guiding the development and execution of US payer marketing strategies and tactics to support patient access to our medicines in the US. This will include progressing disease state education, product value story, and supportive product and access-related information. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with Payer Account Director Team to understand access opportunities and effectively communicate product information. The Associate Director will also work with Agios review committee (Legal, Regulatory, Medical) for resource review and approval.Reporting to the Sr. Director, US Value, Access, and Pricing, the Associate Director, US Payer Marketing will work closely with Market Access Colleagues (Payer, Patient Services), as well as US Marketing, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and Global Strategy to ensure alignment. Solid strategy and execution skills, collaboration, communication, clinical understanding, and vendor management are essential for this role.What you will do:Develop and execute US Payer Marketing Strategies for Agios' portfolioShape product value story for payers, working with HEOR and the National Account TeamDeliver approved payer resources to the National Account Team to communicate disease information and product value story, and improve the quality of their interactions with customersWork proactively and collaboratively with National Account Team to understand needs and opportunities across payer landscape and individual customers (as needed)Assess US payer reactions to disease and product value messages and address evidence gaps in coordination with HEOR teamWork with National Account Team to ensure successful pull-through of payer marketing strategies, tactics, and programsIdentify and utilize most effective communication avenues to reach payer stakeholdersLead / co-lead payer research and feedback forums with implications on disease-state and product-related communications to payersCollaborate with Brand team and Global Commercial Strategy team to ensure alignment with disease and product messagingAlign with Agios Review Committee (Legal, Regulatory, Medical) to ensure resources are appropriately vettedWork with Patient Services Team to ensure understanding of payer coverage and approval process and effective communication of patient access programsEnsure Agios Commercial field teams can speak to payer coverage for in-market brandsWhat you bring:Understanding of US market access environment, including payer landscape, role of PBMs and GPOs, medical and pharmacy coverage policies, and reimbursementFamiliarity with pharmaceutical channel dynamics, including distribution and specialty pharmacyCapacity to build close relationships with Field Payer Team and key payer customersExperience creating and implementing integrated US payer marketing planAbility to translate clinical data into value or economic messagesStrategic planning and execution skills including: positioning, branding, project management, and working with agencies and vendorsProficiency in designing and executing payer tactics and resourcesAble to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and communicate complex information clearlyCapable of fostering relationships, building alignment, negotiating and collaborating with home office and field teamsAbility to travel to meetings, conferences, market research, and advisory boardsPreferred QualificationsMinimum Bachelor's degree, advanced degree (MBA) preferred and a minimum of 3 years market access experience2+ years of payer marketing and/or payer customer engagement experienceUnderstanding of US market access environment, including payer landscape, coverage and reimbursement, and patient access programsKnowledge of Commercial and Government books of business - Medicare, Managed Medicaid, Fee for Service MedicaidExposure to tactic/resource review committee - Legal, Regulatory, Medical - and external vendor managementProduct launch exposureRare genetic disease experience preferredTravel RequirementsBoth virtual or in-person meetings are facilitated as needed and appropriate. Travel requirement will be an average of 25%.Work Location:Location Agnostic: Work location for this role is based on employee's individual preference. This role has the ability to be either remote in the US or hybrid in our Cambridge Headquarters. Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite and hybrid employees are expected to live within commutable distance to our Cambridge Headquarters. Remote employees work entirely from home except for attending Company sponsored events/ meetings.
